Sean Ryan hopes for happy homecoming

Sean Ryan has seen plenty of football games at Ralph Wilson Stadium. He's coming back this weekend, only this time he'll be playing instead of watching.
When the St. Joe's graduate and New York Jets tight end steps on the field Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, he will be looking to beat the team he grew up rooting for.
"I was a huge, huge Bills fan," Ryan said this week "I think the last [Bills] game I went to was the Super Bowl in Atlanta in January 1994. After that, I went to high school [and later Boston College] and couldn't really attend games. But growing up, my dad and I always went to one or two games a year. It was awesome.
"This is my first time playing in Ralph Wilson Stadium. I'm real excited. My parents will get the chance to see me play in person and they won't have to travel to do it. That's perfect. I get to see a lot of family and friends I haven't seen in a while."
The Jets acquired the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Ryan from the Dallas Cowboys for an undisclosed draft pick, believed to be a sixth- or seventh-rounder, on Aug. 31. The Cowboys drafted him in the fourth round in 2004. He saw action in nine games, including two starts, for Dallas.
The Jets have used Ryan mainly in two-tight end sets. He has two catches for 16 yards this season, but had a tough start in the opener at Tennessee when he was called for a penalty and dropped a pass. But Ryan is an outstanding blocker, one of the reasons for the trade.
Ryan grew up wanting to play for the Bills. But just having a chance to play a game in Buffalo is a dream come true.
"I only had to get six tickets for my immediate family," he said. "A lot of friends that I grew up with have Bills season tickets. They go to all the games. That makes it a lot easier for me. All of them are just excited to get the chance to see me. So it'll be a good time."
Although many of Ryan's family and friends are diehard Bills fans, he made one big request.
"I told them for one game at least, they have to cheer for me and against the Bills," he said.
