Bills, Raiders have toughest 2007 schedules

The AFC is better than the NFC: Certainly that's not a very big surprise, but it's even more apparent when you look at the strength of schedules for 2007. Every team in the AFC has a strength of schedule of over .500. The Lions (.504) are the only NFC team with a strength of schedule of over .500.
Kicking the Raiders while they're down: The Raiders finished with the NFL's worst record and were rewarded with the hardest schedule in 2007. The Raiders don't get any breaks in the AFC West, with all six of their divisional games coming against teams with better than .500 records.

It pays to be in the NFC North: One year after having the NFL's easiest schedule, the Bears check in with the second-easiest schedule (.465) this season. Chicago's three divisional foes were a combined 17-31 (.354) in 2006.

I don't buy strength of schedule until the season starts. Nobody knows which teams will be bad, which will be good and last season, with a few exceptions (Arizona, Detriot, Cleveland, Houston are more often then not, horrible and Indy, Denver, San Diego, New England are more often then not, good) you never know who's going to go from good to bad or vice versa (ie Tampa Bay and New Orleans). So knowing the schedule isn't much good for anything other then your bye week (plan your vacation here!) and which games are nationally televised and out of the norm. I also like to circle the dates of NFC East match-ups. Even when the teams are bad, the games are usually interesting.

According to the ESPN calculations, the Bears have the second weakest strength of schedue.

Things can change, but it was pretty clear that they had the good fortune of playing a weak schedule last year ....

With the huge changes you now get year to year the SOS really does not mean anywhere near as much as it did 15 years or so ago.

anybody who gets to play 9 games against the NFC North and NFC West should win at least 12
