AS: Cowboys' Jaydon Blue Shocking Draft Ranking Revealed

Then Why did they wait until the 5th round? If the entire NFL is telling you Mazi isnt a first round talent but you think he’s a top 15 guy, you take him in the first round and tell the rest of the league to sod off.

Unless they felt a generationally deep RB class sucked and the third best guy wasn’t worth a 4th round pick, I suppose that’d be a logical reason.
They didn’t have a 4th round pick & without the knee injury Revel is likely a first round pick and the first corner drafted.

Steele has been really good until last year and he was coming off the knee injury.

If he’s bad this year then time to move on.

I think he bounces back.
I never thought much of him. Didn’t think he was all that great at his peak, whenever that was supposed to be.

I think even Richards is better than him.

Steele will get his starting RT spot handed to him. I’m pretty sure his exorbitant 2025 salary is already guaranteed. I’d see about moving him for like a 5th, but this FO doesn’t do things like that.

I’m happy they took the shot but I’m probably jaded/scorned, or whatever from too many past picks of something like “would have been a first rounder if not for _____”

Then _____ is the reason they didnt work out.

I’d definitely say that the plan is for one of Bland or Diggs to not be around past this season, and at least they are trying to get ahead of something rather than forcing themselves into a first round corner next year.

The fact that they may or may not have had him ranked higher ( wasn’t their a report Jundkins was aged a first) doesn’t change the fact that he’s a 5th round talent at best!
How would you define 5th round talent?

Bro, you’re taking a victory lap like Blue got selected in Round 2 based on some unsourced perceived value.

The reality is NFL teams thought so much of him they past on him until we took him in the 5th round.

Also, hope your chemo is going well!
They passed on him because of size, fumbles, and lack of production in college. But you have to remember, Blue played at Texas recently where they will showcase multiple backs most of the time.

Blue's lack of production actually surprised me because Blue made a lot of big time plays, so I just assumed he got more reps. He just stands out as someone who made it look easy, and I think his skillet translates well to the NFL. I'm sure if teams weren't drafting him, they also had scouts throwing him out there as an option.

He’s got elite speed.

No doubt.

Sounds like Fake News to me. Some of the stuff you read out there on the Web is pure fantasy

This came out on draft day that some of the staff has him as the 3rd RB so not new or surprising. What I wonder about is Why didn't we trade up as referenced if that really was the case! Imagine you miss a guy by just a couple of picks in the 4th or 5th round and you have him rated that highly at a position of need? Probably means there may not have been a consensus on him being rated that highly. Personally I love hearing it when we get the guys our scouts love and I'm excited to see Blue and if he can be a home run hitter at this level. You need to trust your scouts because this is why you pay them. They aren't always right, but if you don't trust them even to listen to them, you need to get new scouts.

The new HC has said at least twice that the best 5 players will start on the OL.

I hope he works out. Only offensive weapon they added this off season really because of his speed. I don't see how the offense will be better even with Dak fully healthy. All teams have to do is scheme out CeeDee and what's left? Turpin? Tolbert? I am sure other teams are shaking in their cleats.
That’s why I’m excited about this guy. If he can break long runs and flip the field then the defense will have to play back a little . That will open up things for Dak and maybe give him another second in the pocket. Dak has proved he’s at his best with a strong offensive line and an explosive running game. The less pressure on Dak to carry the team the better he plays. The more pressure on Dak is when the deer in the headlights come out. If we can keep Dak loose and comfortable he’s a great player. If he’s uncomfortable or feels he has to be Superman then his ply drops. So Blue is one of my pet cats because if he blows up that will have a ripple effect.

Also I like how Blue organized team practices during Covid and ran the practices. Leadership and a desire to play. Got to love that.
