So follow along.
What if the team had a game plan and then a partial game plan. One game plan for Romo and a partial game plan for Dak. Just like they swap out Elliott during certain series, they bring in Dak.
But here's the difference.
Romo has his game plan and he can alter it as he chooses, as we have seen him do at the line of scrimmage.
Dak has a scripted series.
It is common knowledge some teams script out their first fifteen plays. So taking this example, what if Dak's series was up tempo, no substitutions, forcing the defense to call time out or play the people who are on the field for them.
Landry did this, but had Morton and Staubach rotate on every play.
Romo would have the majority of snaps, but this is somewhat like subing out your bruiser running back for the quick guy to catch thew defense flat footed.
A couple of up tempo series would add to tiring out the defense. Romo doesn't need to take on that additional wear. But Dak could surely handle it.
With a reduced plan, and alternate plays at the line of scrimmage, Dak could bring the things Romo doesn't have. Mobility and chemistry with the team.
Romo will get the chemistry back, but I hate the idea of losing this cohesion the team seems to have on offense.
+++++++
l am wavering on Dak. While I love what has transpired, I also believe the schedule and game plan, along with the line and Elliott have aided in his success.
Green Bay will be telling. A victory for Dak would be losing a close game. Beating Green Bay will really stamp up this argument.
Maybe this best of both worlds idea won't work. I surely don't believe the team would do this.
Romo at his best is the best alternative. If and when we see this is the 64 dollar question.
