As it stands, can we even AFFORD two first round picks?

Apparently, we've got a little less than 4 mil in cap space left. This is without even signing Barber to a real contract, or Canty.

At this point, we couldn't even AFFORD McFadden.

Could we even afford to pay two first round picks, not to mention all the other guys we'd be drafting?

Maybe I just don't understand the cap, but 4 mil sounds like nothing to me.

Adam says we need about 2.2 mill to sign draft picks. now, I am sure we would need more if we make some stupid move up to get McFadden but....

Due to the cost of getting enough bang for our buck, I will be surprised if we actually make two 1st round picks. I see Jones doing his best to try to find a trading partner and then trade down in order to pick up more picks in the 2nd/3rd rounds.

Based on our needs and the where the talent is stocked in this draft. Trading down is outright foolish. Draft your needs if that is where the talent is. To do otherwise is dumb.

I couldn't agree with you more, we need to stay where we're at in order to get better players, although I still wouldn't be surprised if Jones tries to move lower (possibly into the early 2nd round) with one of our 1st rounders.

Adam said signing our rookies as currently slotted would only eat about 2.1M of cap room, so I'm pretty sure we could afford to sign DMAC as well.

You draft the BPA and your needs. Most teams only list between 20 to 25 players with 1st round grades (every team has a different list based on the scouts and coaches) so if Jerry is smart and two guys they have listed with 1st round grades are still there at 22 and 28, you take them.

If at 28 or even 22, none of your guys are there, you don't reach. You trade down if you can and get more picks and even into next year.

Say at 28, none of the guys you have listed as 1st round grades are there but there is someone Atlanta wants that they have listed then you trade the 28th pick for the 37th pick and another pick or picks. Remember with Cleveland we got a 1st this year and 2nd in last year's draft that we used to trade back up to get Spencer.

You need to get the guys you need but don't overpay for them, i.e Felix Jones most have projected as a second round guy going between 35 and 40 so if we could get him there, we get our guy at a better price and probably more picks.
