As much as I hate Dan Snyder, I've got to ....

admit that he definitely goes for it . . . .

That said, since he bought the Skins, nearly all of his crazy spending hasn't really resulted in wins. The Bruce Smith signing, Deon signing, etc. was money wasted.

But as JJ said a couple of years ago, hiring (additional) coaches doesn't count against the salary cap.

the question is though....

Who wanted the OC ....Gibbs or Snyder?.....Gibbs is clearly in charge but this seems more of a Snyder choice and Gibbs approved.....

I'd guess Snyder as well.

But from Gibb's perspective, as long as he (Gibbs) is the Head Coach, and the team wins, his legacy grows . . . .

I was always of the opinion the main reason Gibbs came back was to try to get the Skins back on a winning track. I think Gibbs would easily surpress his ego as long as the team wins.

Gibbs and Saunders have known each other for years. Gibbs came from the same coaching staff in San Diego and got the Skins job in 1981 (IIRC) and Saunders stuck around in San Diego and later got the HC job there for two years.

They utilize pretty much the same exact type of offensive scheme.

The skins outclassed us last season and they have an early jump on us this offseason...

I think Parcells should have retired. Al Saunders to Washington is going to give Dallas even more problems.

This signing was clearly a coup for the Skins.

Their group of assistants has gotten stronger and looks like ours is going to be weaker.

We will have to compensate by having much better talent than them which may be possible if we use our draft and FA wisely. They are pretty hard-pressed against the cap and have no first rounder.

Eskimo hit the nail on the head.

We need to beat them in FA/Draft, and we should. If we don't, it'll be absolutely pathetic.

No way we can let a team in that kind of cap trouble beat us in offseason additions.

Yeah, I agree with Eskimo, they They way to beat these guys is through FA and the draft. They're going to lose a few people in the off-season and don't have enough cap to be able to replace them with quality players. I think they're going to lose ground against the rest of the NFC East because the other teams have more money to spend and more draft picks. And if Philly wants to keep up with Dallas and NY, Lurie is going to have to turn loose of some coins and bring in some more people.

I think that if Washington makes the playoffs next year, Gibbs will have done a great job. The next few years look bleak for them.

Skins is over sal cap. Will have to rid theyself of most players. They aint gots enough money to pay Portis, brunell, Marcus Washington, Samuels and the rest of their overated team.

So half of em will be hittibg the bricks along with Arrington and others.

So who they have as cordinatetors don't really mean nothing.

Saunders will be a big money take it and run flop just like Spurer was.

To hell with the Deadskin and their money grub of an owner.

Obviously, our biggest weakness last seasons was our failure to develop a strong offensive line. But contrary to what many people think, developing a worthwhile OL isn't simply a matter of acquiring talent. Coaching is a huge part of assembling a great OL. The Arizona Cardinals are an example of a team that amassed a lot of talent on their OL but their OL still stunk two seasons ago. Likewise, certain teams always seem to have a great OL regardless of the amount of player turnover they have. So I'm not that confident in the idea that acquiring offensive lineman in the draft and free agency will simply solve all of our problems. Acquiring talent is part of the solution but not the entire solution. Parcells needs to make a concerted effort to bring a coach who is known for developing offensive lines.

Why assume that Al Saunders would work for Parcells? Remember what he said, "I'm not for everybody", and this most likely includes coaches.
