As much as I love Bobby Bowden...

He probably needs this to be his last season. The defense has been good, despite thier struggles in the first half, but they can't seem to develop/recruit a QB to save their lives. I don't know why, but their last good offensive weapon to get drafted was probably Javon Walker back in 02'.

I forgot about him, but was only off by a year, and even then he flew under the radar (didn't he play QB his senior season?)

Some QB his senior year with 16 attempts, but it was mostly out of need for FSU. He made the transition to WR early in his career at FSU. I am not sure if he was under the radar. He got drafted early in the 2nd round and if not for a slow 40 time would have been a 1st rounder.

Their QB problems have to do with their system. It's not NFL friendly so they've been losing out on some quality recruits who opt to maximize their draft potential by attending other institutions.

Think about it. The last FSU QB to have a decent NFL career was Brad Johnson and Bowden wouldn't play him. The last top flight pro-style QB recruit that had was probably Dan Kendra and I think he ended up playing FB for them.

As teams started to catch them in terms of speed, the poor QB play became exposed.

That's what I figured, which it's why I think it's time for him to step down, although I'd hate for him to do it in a non-conference winning season. Hopefully they can rebound.

FSU did get a commitment form a highly recruited signal caller this coming year named EJ Manuel.

Also FSU has a kid named Christian Ponder on its roster(RS Freshman) who i think can be special. Special as in one of the best ever. I have watched him in HS, and in all the Camps when he was getting recruited, and during the past 2 Garnet & Gold games, summer workouts etc. He has everything you need in a QB. I'm talking about physically, and mentally. The ONLY thing that is not great is his arm strength, but its not bad either. I would say average, but with his work ethic, and the way he listens to coaches i would not be surprised by the time he leaves FSU it will be a strength.

Just a guy too keep an eye out for in the next 3/4 years.

If the coaches can't teach him, he is not going to learn. Ponder may be very talented, but he will get his direction from the coaching staff. A staff that does not have a great history of producing NFL QBs.

Keep in mind tho, FSU has a new OC/QB coach Jimbo Fisher. he molded JaMarcus Russell in to the QB he is now. When he was a freshman he was so raw.

I'm not saying he is a QB genius, but he isnt nearly as bad as FSU's old Qb coaches.
