You know how Mickey and some others always say "with Free Agents, you need to be careful because, why didn't their team keep them, their's usually something there, so be careful". Well there might be some truth to that statements, but exhibit A in that regard would have to be Ken Hamlin, who turned out pretty darn decent after being castout of Seattle and considered a weakness in what was a weaker secondary.

Now, Asante Samuel is a multiple Superbowl winning CB who made it to the ProBowl as a starter for this 2008 pro-bowl. He was franchised, so New England obviously sees his value. EVERYONE respects Belicheck's opinion right. The team made a deal with Samuel that they wouldn't refranchise him to keep him from holding out.

So, in the league there is a rare opportunity to snag a Pro-Bowl, Superbowl winning experienced CB who is only 27 last week. You have a team like Dallas who's only obvious weakness on Defense is it's Secondary. You have an owner with money who has fixed the cap situation on a team that is desperate to get a playoff win with a young talented team, that also believes it is ranked among SuperBowl competitors. Strikes me as a no-brainer that Jerry goes after this guy (I don't know him well enough to say whether he is awesome as a corner or not, don't watch enough AFC games. He makes plays on the ball from the highlights I watch).

I agree with the poster that said, who cares where your money is spent, and that you can't say "oh I have too much money tied up in oline or CB". Totally agree, if it's a missing piece of the puzzle, you need to look into it at least. These opportunities don't come around very often. Sometimes they come about because another team is Cap strapped. Other teams may look at Flo Adams and say the same thing, but he's a bit older and been injured a few times (plus the penalties might scare some off).

I just think that if you are in a hurry to fix what ails you sometimes you need to take a risk, and Jerry is a risk taker. All FA pickups that cost money are a risk. This guy seems to have more upside than a Marcelus Willey, etc.
