So, I've been doing some research on Jeanty, who I want us to take. I've compared Ashton Jeanty to Emmitt Smith in terms of styles and measurables. The crazy thing is? It's crazy similar. Firstly, they're the exact same height and only separated by a pound. Here's Emmitt Smith (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmitt_Smith) who I looked up to as a kid. Here's Jeanty (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashton_Jeanty).

Then, you look at their highlights.

Emmitt Smith:

Ashton Jeanty:

It's remarkable! Not saying they're the exact same, but the similarities that I can see are remarkable. If he's available when we are picking, it's almost a no brainer to me.

Like the player. Depends in the 1st where they draft.

Top 10? No. Trade back if hellbent.

Dallas will never pay a decent DT in FA, so my hope is to grab a DT high in the draft if they finish in the top 10~15.

Sign or draft a good back. They usually pop up in FA and day 2/3 of the draft.
Invest the top picks in the trenches/WR-BPA

Fur sure, trade back and get him if we can, but I want Jeanty badly.

I see Marshawn Lynch in him personally. Jeanty pulls off a Beast Mode looking run every weekend.

Lynch's bread and butter was just being big and fast, but what set him apart was his ridiculous contact balance. Jeanty has that same kind of human-pinball running style

hes more like Barry Sanders than Emmitt, but the point is well made still. The kid is special. He is an outlier as far as running backs go. He has the goods to wear the yellow Jacket some day. Hès just a really good football player. You put the kid behind any oline and hes gonna cook. I have really warmed up to the idea hes elite. I had my doubts at first because he plays at Boise but if we put that aside, and then just watch the player navigate the plays, he's special. I can see a team like the Bears grabbing him to pair with Williams. I can see the Giants doing it because, lets be honest, they stink on offense and need skill players. But if DALLAS drafted him, he can mask a ton of issues just by the threat of what he can do day 1. Hès like Chris Johnson and Barry Sanders combined. Tougher than Johnson. Dallas would be an instant top 5 team again.

Exactly, and, if he can stay focused, I think he has a real chance of being a long term back like Derrick Henry. I think he's what Jerry had in mind when he got Zeke in 2016, and he seems to have significantly less baggage.

Plus, like you said, he'd be able to cook in our oline. Heck, maybe he gives the coaching staff ideas on how to create a blocking scheme for him. Plus, he can catch and block. I think we become an instantly and drastically better offense if we get him first round.

He’s probably the best running back prospect I’ve seen come out of college in the last 10+ years.

His statistical output is on track to be completely record breaking. He’s got all of the tools you want in an NFL running back, and game breaking athleticism.

I guarantee someone is going to take a chance on him in the top 10 in spite of the position he plays.

I think he's more explosive than Emmitt was.

He's compared to Ladainian Tomlinson a lot; I think that's the much better comp.
Its so weird that he has 39 receiving yards this year. I dont read anything to it because he was a beast asa receiver last year. But just weird

agree totally. Its glaringly obvious, we don't have that dude on the team at rb, that defenses must account and plan for. No Alpha Dawg at rb. Cowboy Football, at Championship levels has ALWAYS been when we had a very bad man running the rock. In Dallas, even with Roger at QB, we ALWAYS had a dominating running attack with guys like Reeves, Walt Garrison, Duane Thomas, Tony Dorsett, NewHouse. Even Preston Pearson. Want proof...just look at the Ravens right now. This game is still much about running it and enforcing your will. We will never win again UNTIL we get back to Cowboy football, which is having a punishing running game to balance it all out. Hero Ball never works. Rico Dowdle would be the 4th rb on the Ravens right now. Heck, I don't think he would make it off the Practice squad for the niners right now. Hès not very good. I know many don't wanna hear this but Rico isn't a starting NFL caliber back. Jerry Jones is shameful the way he tries to shove boloney down our throats while he tells us we are eating steak dinner. I have HAD IT with Jerry Jones. The man has no respect for the game and NONE for the fans. He thinks if he lies enough that eventually we will buy the fools gold. Back to Jeanty, THAT guy is a stud. Draft him in round 1 or 2 and I got no issue with that pick. Special players are rare, like hens teeth, so when you get 1 , don't matter what round, TAKE HIM and don't look back. Forget the naysayers.

I just can't believe anybody wants to take a first-round RB. Who wouldn't do this trade?

Give: Jahmyr Gibbs, Hendon Hooker
Receive: Christian Gonzalez, Devon Achane

I’m not usually for 1st round running backs because of their shelf life.

But a question you need to ask about 1st round picks is what kind of impact they’ll have on the team in the immediate future.

If you’re one of the people who thinks Jeanty is going to have a 1+TD, 100+ yard game every week, then hell, that type of impact is worth a first round pick. That type of impact is rare and hard to find.

That’s the sort of impact player that this team desperately needs on offense.

Pretty bold statement.
I mean, is he as good a prospect as Zeke, Henry, Bijan, Barkley, etc? Yeah. Maybe even better. His production and skillset doesn’t make him an odd man out in that group.

Does it mean he’s guaranteed success? No, but he will be rated as good as they come by NFL scouts and you can take that to the bank.

Well, and the fact of the matter is it obviously doesn't work that way. However, even he might be inclined to go Jeanty, if for no other reason than jerseys.

he'd be the best rb we have had in Dallas since DeMarco Murray. I have DM rated higher than Zeke. His running style was hard to stop. The oline coupled with HIM was unstoppable in 2014. That team may have been better than the 2007 team. If we draft Jeanty, we will see flashes of what we did in 2014 again. 2016 was special too with Zeke and that oline, but for me, the 2014 team was better.
