Ashton Jeanty dazzled college football fans while chasing records during the 2024 season, which makes him one of the names to watch during Thursday's NFL draft. But Las Vegas Raiders fans reportedly won't be the ones watching him during the 2025 NFL season. "The Raiders are not taking Ashton Jeanty at six," NFL draft analyst Todd McShay said Tuesday (26:49 mark).

He also suggested the Raiders' apparent lack of interest in Jeanty "may be a moot point" since there is "buzz" the Jacksonville Jaguars might draft the Boise State running back at No. 5 overall.

Jeanty would make some sense for the Jaguars, as they just hired an offensive-minded head coach in Liam Coen and need to surround Trevor Lawrence with playmakers to maximize the quarterback's potential in the immediate future.

And there aren't many offensive playmakers better than Jeanty in this year's draft. He threatened Barry Sanders' NCAA single-season record of 2,628 rushing yards on his way to 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground as the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season. He also led the Broncos to the Mountain West Conference title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

While Jacksonville has Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby in the backfield, Jeanty brings a higher ceiling than both and could anchor the running back position alongside Lawrence for the foreseeable future.

As for the Raiders, they are far from established at running back with Raheem Mostert potentially in line to start. But they also need to address a number of positions after a lackluster 4-13 campaign and could always take a running back in the middle or later rounds.
That might just be the plan because McShay made it clear he doesn't believe the AFC West team will take Jeanty at No. 6.

Sounds exactly like the Cowboys.

Jeanty is moving up not down.
I knew he wasn't falling to 12 when 99% of everyone said he would make it to pick 12.
The Patriots are a very real threat to take him at pick 4.
It's literally impossible to trade up for him now.

Honestly I never understood why team start mocking him to the Raiders anyway. If we get past the jags I think he'll end up bears or cowboys
