that city hasn’t been the same since 2001. Progressively deteriorating and almost completely gentrified. High crime, inept leadership and a shell of its former self…..only NJ and California probably have more people leaving it…in droves
We see things much differently. Gentrification is something I haven't seen, except maybe in parts of Manhattan, and while I can't speak for the crime rates, it's a much cleaner and organized city, and for the most part, the prostitution is less visible. As for people leaving the city, they must be commuting back in, because traffic hasn't eased up at all in the 24 years I've been going there, pretty much once a week...I miss the quarantines!

Oh, I don't live there...NEVER! I just have to go there about once a week for work. I'd rather live in a tent in the woods!

Sugar on Pizza?

Finding new & unique flavor combinations to expand on what is basically the perfect food to begin with. Ahhh, progress.

I didn't think I would like it either. Also didn't think I would like BBQ pizza.

But I was young & inexperienced when I lived in Memphis and was introduced to a wide variety of pizza courtesy of Coletta's Italian Restaurant. They made a man outta me. Well, an obese man anyway.

Have you seen Harlem lately?......way different than in the past. That whole city used to be special but my opinion on that has changed.......pretty soon the old Italian pizza places may start serving pineapple on their pizzas:D

I don't usually go too deep into Harlem. MLK Blvd to get in and out is about it.

Harlem changed YEARS ago, I do see a lot of gentrification in Brooklyn. Red Hook changed a few years ago and has an Ikea, you have to take a look at Brownsville and Bushwick now, they're in the mist of it. They ran out of room in Manhattan...

As for the old businesses - there used to be a Jewish and then Italian Deli and a bakery in every neighborhood - now not as much.

There are still the pizza places tho - the only place that might serve pineapple on pizza are some chain stores like Sabbaros in Manhattan for the tourists.

the last time I was in Manhattan it looked like I was Boise Idaho. The flavor of the place is gone. It is what it is, but I do miss that melting pot that made it unique. Diversity in restaurants leads to a helluva great place to eat!!!

that must be a tough job driving a semi into the city. I always feel sorry for y’all trying to maneuver that big rig in places like Chinatown and the village…..I couldn’t do it
That would be even worse, but I drive a 33' straight truck, which is bad enough. Between the cabbies, buses,4 wheel idiots, motorcyclist idiots, bicyclists, pedestrians, low bridges, cops that only care about making money by giving out tickets to trucks that are unloading in the only possible place to unload, customers who open shop at the crack of whenever, garbage trucks that block the street even when there's plenty of room to let people pass, etc., etc., etc...it just sucks.

The flavor might be gone, but the stank is still there.

I dont know if I'd go THAT far but I definitely hear ya. We still have plenty of diversity here in the boroughs.

If you dont mind me asking, did you ever live here?
