Asking price for DK Metcalf down to 2nd round pick

Keenan is fine I mean as a number 2. To me that’s Brandon Cooks. I think we need a better more consistent option than that in 2025. Diggs injury is the concern.
What are we expecting out of DK if he went to Dallas? He was a 900-1100 yard receiver in Seattle. Yes, Dak is better than Geno, but Geno isn’t chopped liver. The #2 receiver is an artificially limited position. Dak’s strengths are spreading the ball around. DK is the best option as a #2, but the compensation doesn’t fit the prize. If he’s getting 30m$ and cost a 2nd round (or whatever it is) draft pick, you didn’t bring him to Dallas to catch an occasional deep ball. Or You didn’t bring him to be 2019 Michael Gallup. You brought him to be the player he’s hasn’t yet been for Seattle

Consistency is one thing, but 30m$ club is like 6 or 7 guys. DK has never been that, and won’t be asked to be that as your robin to Lamb. Keenan makes so much more sense

Going out on a limb - not happening in Dallas.
Not happening anywhere. A 2nd only to have to shell out $30 million per? A team is going to need talent on a 2nd’s pay scale to be able to afford to pay him. And he ruled out half the teams in the league with his warm weather nonsense.

The financial commitment makes it tough. $30MM AAV isn't a small ask. Add on the premium day 2 pick and that makes it tough.

Buffalo, KC, Las Vegas (due to Carroll being there as well as Geno Smith), and maybe Washington could be suitors.

If he would take an extension in the 20's, I'd offer a 2nd or 3rd rounder for sure.

Call them offer a 3rd o Sorry Jerry doesn’t call anyone they half to call the cowboys !

Jaylen Waddle, Tyler Boyd, Calvin Ridley, Jordan Addison, Deebo Samuel, Jerry Jeudy… that’s his peers.

He’s asking for Amon Ra, Brandon Aiyuk, Tyreek Hill, AJ Brown, Nico Collins money. Guys who routinely finish in the top 10, top 5 in receiver yards per game, catches per season… something DK isnt

But I think he will get his asking price because teams like Las Vegas and LAC and Carolina and New England are desperate for ANYTHING at the position

Id give a 2nd for Metcalf before spending 12 on Tet. And I like Tet

Metcalf is flawed, but he needs alot of attention from the defense. Just him being on the field makes everyone elses life easier
This is interesting in a lot of ways. The draft sets up well for the Cowboys to get a receiver at 12 or in a trade back. That could be McMillan, Golden, or Emeka Egbuka. Maybe the Seahawks lower their price even more. Maybe the Cowboys go with Lockett or another free agent.

I don't have much faith in Lockett at this point in his career. He might be cooked

For me, with Metcalf it depends on how intent they are to improve the pass right now. No rookie is a sure thing. Metcalf does more than any WR currently on the trade or FA market. However there are two big pills to swallow in terms of draft compensation and contract (if is looking for 30m per). Them just joining the fray and losing out could tell us alot

The difference in price between Metcalf and a top rookie is huge.

What did Devonta give you guys? 800
Yards? I’d take that.

Thats why I said it depends in how intent they are to fix the passing game now. Even with a top pick there is no assurance he will come in and deliver

If they make a move for Metcalf, its because they wanted guaranteed 2025 results

To me if you bring in Metcalf, you do so because he can just stand there and defenses have to play back. I agree 30m per is alot for him though. Too much. Id be fine with the #2 if he was talking like 25m per

At 25m$ over 3 years, signed at 24, and even then it was an extension with 2 years left of rookie deal. So the full contract is actually 19m$ over 5 years, plus we didn’t need to trade a 2nd rounder to pay that. If you get DK, he starts at 1 year 22m, then his extension kicks in. So you’re paying a player who’ll be 4 years older ~28m$ a year on average and forking up a 2nd for the privilege to do it.

30m$ a year extension for a guy not worth 30m$ a year to play a position that isn’t a #1 receiver which has not yet happened in NFL history, and losing a 2nd rounder doesn’t sound like the best possible course to take. Why have people suddenly become enamored with a guy who’s borderline top 20 in the NFL, when only a handful of guys make 30m$? You bring up his consistency, but he’s only ever been consistently above average at best. He’s a faster, but overall worse Amari Cooper. DK would relish in putting up 1100/7 every year. But the difference was when you paid Amari, you didn’t have anything else. Now you have something way better

I don’t think you need to worry too much about it. People complain Dallas is poorly run, but they’re not even close to the bottom. Watch New England or Jacksonville or Atlanta fork over googly-eyed amounts
