Assistant coach thread

How ironic would it be if we hired Solari, the guy that Wade wanted, to replace Houck, the guy that Garrett wanted?

Personally, I can't stand Mangini, but I could tolerate him if he wanted to be the DC for a few years.

I still vote for Rob Chudzinski as O-Coordinator. I think when all is said and done, he did a great job in Cleveland and runs a similar style of offense. He's probably tougher on guys than Garrett so he could play some good cop, bad cop with Garrett as well. Young, hungry, innovative, demanding...just the type of coach we need.

I like Chud ... but i do think he's a guy who is going to get some HC sniffs soon.

Mangini is a good D guy and he fits the mold of the sort of guy i've been pulling for all along -- a guy who was once a hot coordinator that has HC experience but enough stink on him to not be a threat to generate much interest as a HC now or to threaten Garrett's authority (i.e. not make him look over his shoulder).

A younger Dom Capers, I guess. I can dig it.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Singletary as D-C. The guy was stuck with Shaun Hill, Alex Smith and Troy Smith and still went 18-22. I think he would command and get the players' respect.

Mike S absolutely commands respect. But he really never has even been a coordinator. He would need a staff full of great position coaches to do all the X and O stuff -- in that scenario, there is no way that we get rid of Campo or Pasq.

I doubt it happens though. I still think it is Manusky that Jerry likes. We may be putting too much emphasis on guys who have 3-4 experience though. It could very well be that a 4-3 could convince the team that he can work with a 3-4 just as well.

Just say no to Solari.

He has done nothing with Davis and Iupati. They have been awful and average respectively.

They cannot run worth a flip. They are terrible at pass protection.

About the only thing he seems to have going for him is being one of Hos's pet cats.

Hell, that's the reason to go get him.

Actually though, I've wanted Sparano back as OL Coach. With Miami keeping him it looks like, there needs to be a contingency. But I think it is fair to say Sparano was my pet cat for OL.

That can happen when you don't have a QB.

His teams in Kansas City didn't have any problem running the ball. Think they led the league in rushing four times there. Anyone remember Larry Johnson destroying one of those Parcells years?

Oh I know, holmes. I just like commenting on the near mind control you seem to exhibit over half of this board.

I agree on Sparano wholeheartedly. I will not give up hope.

Oh and you know you still have the litterbox for Solari.

If that is the standard then why not just keep Houck? He has been very successful in the past as well which includes here recently in terms of sacks and rushing average.

I wish I could share the PMs I get. It might change this perception of me.

I dunno, you could make a case for us bringing back Jacques Reeves and people would start having him as their avatar and creating sigs that say 'Reeves Island'.

The other half hates you. :)

Part of me does not want someone who has not been a DC to come here to be a first time DC.

I think we need exp coaches at the OC and DC level. We have JG learning the HC ropes as he goes...I don't care to have his DC doing it as well.

But that is just me.

That does not mean I just want some coach that is not that good but has been a DC before brought in here, or someone like Paul P staying as DC.

But there should be some good coaches out there that have been DCs and Some who have also been HCs before that would help the team and JG.

You take a poor HC and put good coaches under him and that HC might turn out to look good to great.

You take a good to great HC and put good coaches under him and he will turn out to look like an iconic genius.

I think the better your coaches are make the HC and the team better.

I don't want to take a chance on someone else who has never been a DC or OC right now.

I think one of the reasons KC has done well this year is because of the reasons you've posted above.

You have a firey young HC as the motivator and very experienced/proven OC and DC doing the Xs and Os.

What about bringing back Wade as DC??? :laugh1:

It actually might have worked out a lot better if Garrett had any coaching experience 4 years ago!

You have no idea. It gets very amusing.

Not a chance. I'd be laughed at the same as every other jabroni with a dumb idea.

Because he's proved that sucks here... Plus Solari doesn't fall asleep in his own meetings.

No support for Jeff Davidson huh?

This guy was a hot commodity for HC 2 years ago. Any fan we have here of getting a physical run blocking line back in Dallas should surely be a fan of Davidson.

I had him on my short list before we hired Wade.

I would love to have him coaching our OL.

Oh I do not disagree with Houck needing to be upgraded but I just do not see picking someone up that is failing harder than the guy we already have.

Solari had some amazing young talent coming in and he essentially wasted it.

Now if we could get Munchak away from the Titans that would be a coup. I would go so far as to say I would be for getting Fisher just for Munchak.
