I don't feel like waiting until pre-season to watch them play.

He definetely looks like another guy that can get to the QB. He doesn't waste time he just does a quick move and then he is in the QB's lap.
someone else has to step up because we know Spencer is just out there collecting pay checks and not making impact plays.
Please let us find another playmaker on the left side of our front 7!!
a_minimalist;4544976 said:Ya, let's see how Spencer does in his make or break year.

Eskimo;4545337 said:We've really brought in a lot of players to compete for Spencer's spot next year. Right now we have:
Victor Butler
Albright
Kyle Wilber
Adrian Hamilton
Aston Whiteside
All of these guys are a bit different and I can see 2 or 3 of them making the roster this year with us going a little thin at ILB as a possible compromise since those guys are all locked up for a few years. We only kept 3 last year at ILB so the same scenario could unfold again this year.
The other thing about the group of OLBs we keep this year is I wouldn't take it as a given that Butler makes the team. The only guys who are probably guaranteed a spot are Spencer and Wilber. If the staff decides they can get the same pass rush from Hamilton or Whiteside that they did out of Butler there is little reason to keep Butler who will be a FA next year on the roster. So I can see a scenario where we keep both Hamilton and Whiteside over the two incumbent backups.
It will be a very interesting camp to see if Spencer or Butler can finally be pushed into becoming more productive pass rushers now that their snaps in the nickel are finally at stake. I've been so disappointed with both of them for so long now it seems like an eternity.

I think Whiteside and Hamilton seem like SERIOUS prospects but I still don't see anyone beating out Spencer. At least not next year.
Eskimo;4545467 said:Yes, no one will unseat Spencer this year as the starter.
I'm talking about next year, 2013 season.
It would be a coup to find a low cost replacement out of the current group of underlings - we are due to get lucky on a pass rusher given all the high busts we have chosen over the year - some kind of draft karma.
