Prior to the start of the season, I figured about 65 wins... enough to avoid another 100 loss season.

But after their miserable start to the season and the addition of Springer and Singleton, they're on a pace for 70 wins, and I wouldn't be surprised if they pick up a couple more than that.

It's fun following them at this point, no I don't expect a playoff appearance this season but it's fun watching the kids progress and realizing there's a lot more of them in the minor-league pipeline.

Not even the best team in the state of Texas at this point... but I don't think it's going to be long before they are and playoff threat.

A couple of more years and they should be competing. I still hate this move to the AL and to a really really tough division.

Yeah, the move to the AL still stings... but it is what it is.

At this point the Rangers have a decent farm system... not anywhere close to Houston's (and that's after Singleton and Springer were called up) but decent.

Seattle's is below average and the farm systems for both Oakland and the Angels are near the bottom of MLB.

They should be able to really compete in a couple of seasons. They have talent stacked up in the minors and they are lacking in the pitching department, depth wise. A few trades, one more big bat and they have a bright future.

The exact opposite of the Mets :(

The Mets seem to have something cooking down in the minors also. The cupboard isn't bare by any means.

When I was a kid my grandmother was a huge Mets fan. And this period of the Mets franchise seems kind of like what they went through after '73.

I still remember guys like John Milner and Ed Kranepool. Still remember the big trade of Tom Seaver. It seemed that Stevie Henderson was going to turn out to be something special, but he pretty much duded out.

I don't follow the Mets but these guys on talk radio here in New York were ripping them pretty good saying things like, "there are guys on the field that aren't any where near MLB level" ... He mentioned more than a few players... Like 6 or 7...

Yes, C, 1B, SS and two outfield positions should not be anywhere near a MLB park. The back-ups are even worse. No one can hit a HR in CitiField due to the dimensions and/or lack of power. Wright has turned into a singles hitter, Murphy can rake but has too many mental lapses. Granderson hasn't come around yet.

Mets do have pitching, some are injured or are out for the season. The minors seems to be stacked with pitching as well. The whole organization lacks promising position players. They do have some younger guys in the minors but aren't expected to be anything special.

The bullpen is a hit or miss on any given night. Terry Collins loses more games from his poor in-game management and our scouts lack an eye for talent.

They are playing moneyball with stacks of pennies and it isn't working, Alderson has to go next. Would be nice if the Wilpons were forced to sell but doubtful their financial mess leads to that :(

I hate the Astros Owner....idiot signing that contract with Comcast and making impossible to see the Astros on TV unless they are playing the Rangers. For the last 3 years, they weren't worth watching, except Altuve......now they have a nice young team, and they are the hottest team in baseball over the last month. Unfortunately, I can't watch them thanks to Comcast. I used to be able to see every game here in SA, when they are on FSN.......but not anymore. Still, after that horrible start, they are only 6 games under .500. They went from the worst in the league to the 8th worst, to right now being the 7th worst. If they can continue playing at this level, they could easily be 6 games above .500 by All Star Break. Our starting pitching has been very good. Our hitting has improved a lot, maybe not the batting average, but the ability to get timely hits and drive in runs. Really the biggest weakness is the bullpen, and even that has improved since the start of the year. Our farm system is steadily getting stocked with quality talent. This recent draft was apparently a good one, hopefully we can sign all of our top 10 or so players.

I just hope that they will find a way to get them back on TV so their fanbase in San Antonio, quite a few of us, can enjoy them as they improve and hopefully get back to the level they were during the Bagwell and Biggio years.

I think you meant the previous owner right? That signed the Comcast contract. The current regime is suing the previous one because of that contract (or so I thought I read).

Between Springer and Singleton, the team added conservatively 50 HR's a season to this club. 1st base was an absolute hole. Add another bat and a couple more quality arms and you're looking at a scary team.

yes, I believe it was McClain who signed the Comcast deal. Isnt Crane the new owner? At any rate, I hope they are able to find a way to get out of the deal.

I would like to see better batting averages across the board, but for now, I will take the timely hitting and winning.

The one guy that still bugs me is Corporan. It seems like he is always striking out or making an out when we have runners in scoring position. I cannot figure out why he is still starting, or even on the main roster. He must have naughty pictures of Bo Porter or something.

I love the Astros and the direction they're going.

Cosart, Springer, Singleton, and Altuve are the future. I hope Kuechel continues to prosper as a starter.

Santana, Folty, McCullers, Nitro, Stassi, Appel, DeShields, Correa, and Aiken make the future look very promising.

I'm a Yankees fan, but I'm much more interested in what the Astros do day by day than what NY does... Why? Following the Yankees right now is like rooting for someone who has terminal cancer– you know given the poor prospects at the top of the farm system combined with all the stoopid contracts they've signed means that it's going to be at least a couple years (at least) before the ship is righted.

The way I see it (barring an avalanche of injuries) the Houston Astros were at the bottom of their barrel for the month of April. From here on in, for at least the next 3-4 seasons, the direction is only going to be up. It's easy to be exited about the kids coming up in this organization.

It is! Living in Corpus Christi (AA) I get to see these prospects before they get the call.
