Wow we are still paying for Miles Austin ???

On May 20, 2008 Marion Barber agreed to a seven-year, $45 million deal and I believe we just finished paying off that dead money. Someone please correct if that isn't true!

Wasn't Barber released after the 2010 season
That means his dead money would have come off in the 2011 cap year. If he was a June 1st designated cut then some would have spilled into the 2012 cap year.

It should be noted we will generate some more dead money when Free's contract voids and if we decide to cut Brandon Carr.

The real benefits of the cap management we have been practicing will come to fruition next year. After Carr's contract is dealt with we will only have one bad contract left on the roster in Sean Lee. Even his situation isn't that bad over the next 2 years but could be an issue after that (but even here at that point there will only be about $6M in dead money left).

I assume that you're joking, but dead-money only stays to 2 years at most after the player is gone. Barber was last with the Cowboys in 2010.

If players are not June 1st cuts, then the dead money only stays for 1 season. They absorbed all of the dead money from Ware's release in 2014.
