All others, in my opinion, need to seriously adution to be let back into the team.

I cannot recall when another Cowboys defensive team has been so lackluster in the context of their hype and their pedigree and their physical skills.

So, in the words of LBJ, it is with great sadness that I come to you with a heavy heart.

Face it, the defense has a long haul this offseason.

Ware is the bedrock. Then the precipitous fall (I leaned that word at night shcool) to no names like James, Brookingl, Ball, Scandrick, Jenkins other pudnicks plus the awful Spencer and inconsistent Ratliff.

Yes, the O-line is lacking.

But, damn it to haides, this defense cannot sustain a lead or keep it when the hearth is on.

Blow up the defense. Yes, you cannot just replace a defense.
But Cowboys need to begin the process of rebuilding its pretender defense that showed the promise of a very young Joey Heartherton or a Gene Krupa.
Where was I . . . oh, dang it we need to start over on defense and get a real defensive coordinator other than this Paglachi guy.

DWare is a beast. Last night Millen (I think) made the comment near the end of the game about how a playmaker like Ware steps up and makes a play.... 5 seconds later DWare gets the sack.:bow::bow:

Ratliff will be elite when the other De's step up.

Can either of yew say, and in all seriousness, that Ware pretty much does not stand alone in 'must-keeps'?

The realization struck me in the metal plate in mah head that after Ware there really is . . . nothing?
Who you defend as being in Ware's level, huh?

Yea! I feel ya man, we need to have an entire starting unit of superstars out there! If they haven't been to AT LEAST 3 Pro Bowls, don't even talk about them being on this team next year!

Rabble rah, rabble rah, rabble rah!

Ware is one of the top 5 defensive players in all of football, and in order to be on our team you expect them to match that? Sure.........

Dear yahoo. If you read the post, and i trust yew did through the haze, it was that you do not replace a whole unit.

"Ware is the bedrock. Then the precipitous fall"
But the premise remains, though you miss it thoroughly, is that Ware stands alone and no one is supporting -- consistently -- on defense. Front or secondary.

Dont mean a defense of top-dollar defenders as much as new blood. Somewhere, whether the draft or, preferably, through FA.
"But Cowboys need to begin the process of rebuilding its pretender defense"

They dont have ta be pro bowlers, Hammy, they jus need to be workmanlike and consistent and not have the offense have to score that many points!
Comprende? Ro****ovitch? Significadisco? Capiche? Blornjitch?
Nah!

You did say "who else is on Ware's level" right?

Btw.. this is the exact same group of players minus Hamlin who were the second best defense in the league last season.

Clearly there is talent here. Saying Ratliff isn't workmanlike and consistent at the very least is where i stop paying attention.

The guy brings his hard hat week in and out, despite playing out of position almost his entire career.

Same with James, who has quietly again had a solid season for us. Lee is another guy we need to bring back. Newman, Jenkins, Bowen, Brent, Spencer, Butler, Spears.. all guys who should be brought back. You don't go out and replace an entire defense in one offseason.

The zone D scheme isn't workin for me either. We do need to get a good young Safety in here who can come in and be a playmaker, as well as another good DL or two, especially a NT. But this D has some talent. It doesn't need to be blown up completely.

Sorry for being abrupt with you, Hammy. It's all the Mountain Dew and the muscle stim.
I keep waking up in a sweat and see Norv Turner as HC here.
The stress is getting to all of us. I just happen to be right.

Right about no one but Ware being a solid player who should be back next season?

Go back to sleep.. :laugh2:

stop saying there is talent on the defense. when you are second to last in defense pts per game, YOU DON'T HAVE TALENT! SHEESH! :bang2:

So again, you're saying if guys didn't excel this year, or play on a very high level like Ware does, they shouldn't be back.

That's madness.

I listed guys a few posts up who have been solid contributors and should be back next year, either for potential or production.

The main problem with this defense is coaching, imo.

A year ago, these same players were second BEST in the league.

So all that talent just disappeared? All the same guys who were here last year, just are terrible players now?

A lot of these were punched in the mouth in gametime and were cowed by lesser-skilled but more aggressive teams who naturally play up to the Cowboys.

If you want to hope that that latent talent rears its head, sure, and that is how it will probably work out because blowing up the defense is not practical.

But again, you begin rebuilding the defense. That is a fact you keep missing. Not that talent disappeared or that we need blue chippers at every position.

Im not missing it at all bud, in fact its a point i've brought up multiple times before, and one that i think every fan with common sense can see we need to do.

I gave my plan for "rebuilding" our defense. It begins and end with solid coaching, one or two quality DL to go along with Ratliff, including a solid NT, and a good young playmaking safety that can come in and start right away for us. High draft pick type.

Get those things done this offseason, and i think you'll see a big change in the way this defense plays. Its also a lot more simple and practical than blowing it all up.

exactly. is the other guy seriously trying to defend these losers? :lmao2:

Ware is without a doubt our best defensive player, but when there's little to no consistent production around you on defense, then the offense can simply key on you each play since at times on D we seem to be Demarcus or bust.

And is it just me or has Igor Olshansky done absolutely nothing all year long:confused:

I think we have some talent on defense it will be up to the HC and DC to get the most out of them.
