OK as this horrendous season winds down lets take a look as to how we got there from the very top....at the guy who buys the groceries and signs the checks.
Jerry was quick enought to grab the Super Bowl trophy out of Switzers hands on the podium-I will never forget that hilarious look he gave Switzer. It was like "give me that trophy, I am the one who did all this!"
So here we are looking at a rebuilding phase under his guidance. Do you trust him?
He is responsible for:
1. our place kicking situation which is in the hands of a talented but very inconsistent and raw kicker. It was predicted many times Beuhler would eventually cost us a game and that has come true
2.Our safety situation. He has neglected this position for years in the draft. Someone has to be held accountable for the notion it was a good idea to put a 178lb converted corner in one of the most critical positions on the defense. The safety postion doesnt have to be manned by a 4.4/40 220 lb monster. It has to be manned by an instinctual quarterback of the secondary who plays like a 4.4 in the 40
retreads from other teams at SS are retreads from other teams
3.Our OL....well we all know that story Hire someone who has an eye for OL talent and a proven track record for crying out loud. You have the funds!!!!!!
4.the 2009 draft and Roy Williams. Jerry, you have now made the same mistake twice in trading for a wr and giving up the farm. Will you ever learn? can you imagine what a difference having a Eric Woods, Mike Oher, Alex Mack on this team
Who the heck thought Brewster would be a viable starter in the NFL should be put in charge of scouting water boys
5.Wade Phillips...who should have been fired after the Philly fiasco 3 years ago -it could be argued. So Jones comments that Garrett doesnt have experience as a head coach. This from a guy who hired the colossal failures of Dave Campo and Chan Gailey
It just all contributes to Jones' eye for coaching talent, especially when you see former assistants having success elsewhere
6.ok its not all bad....Jones and his talent evaluators may be weak on OL and S but they can identify receiver talent in Austin and Bryant irregardless of the Williams trade (i think Williams is immensely talented but there is a disconnect between his talent and performance; TE potential as well as OLB talent. Ware over Merriman; Spencer has talent-it just needs to be refined; Butler shows promise
Maybe I am reaching here?!But I am looking for some positives. And Jerry gave us JerryWorld with all of its Cowboy marketing monstrosity
Feel free to dump more at Jerruhs feet. He wants all the credit when they win, he can have all the credit when they crash and burn. How many years since our last Super Bowl?!!!!
