I know we can’t post Athletic links but they have a new mock and I subscribe so I’ll discuss it...if that is allowed. Here is the scenario

1) Jags: Lawrence QB
2) Jets: Wilson QB
3) SF: Mac Jones QB
4) Atlanta : Fields QB
5) Bengals: Chase WR
6) Dolphins : Pitts TE
7) Lions: Sewell T
8) Patriots: Trade (swap 1st and 2022 1st): Lance QB
9) Broncos: Parsons LB
10) Cowboys: Surtain CB

So in this scenario we had Surtain, Horn, Slater, Devonta Smith.

Is that your pick? I’m fielding calls there because going back 3-5 places and your getting one.

I would be thankful and take Surtain and not try to get cute.

Surtain is the comfort pick. This draft is going to be wild and I cant wait.

Agree. Top 10 should be wild. Never pans out like many see it.

As a side note to all these are 11-16

11. Giants: Azeez Ojulari Edge
12. Eagles: Devonta Smith WR
13. Chargers: Slater T
14. Vikings: Jaelen Phillips Edge
15. Panthers: Horn CB
16. Cardinal: Waddle WR

I'm just not enamored with Horn. Not in consideration at 10 for me. Honestly his negatives make him feel like a second round grade to me.

To me this is about as close to reality as Mocks get.
In this scenario if I am DAL I am grateful 5 QBs are gone but that also means I am not trading down.
I'm taking Surtain/Slater/Horn in that order.

I'm not trading with the Eagles at 12 for any reason. And I am not moving down beyond them with a bounty of riches.
So there's really very little trade wiggle room if it falls like this.

If I fall below 12 I am looking at guys I grade far lower like Barmore and Moehrig so gotta pay the freight for me to move.

Id take Surtain. Slater is good, but is he an OT, when is he an OT? Id take the day starter at a money 5 position guy. Id consider a trade down for a 2022 #1. Not a 2021 #2

I would be thankful and take Surtain and not try to get cute.

And I agree. I like Surtain a lot but Slater intrigues me there and I’d like to see what offers are there...though most people willing to jump would probably not with QBs gone

IF you have those 4 players grouped together and are happy to land any one of them, that is absolutely the smartest strategy.
But if you trade below 13 you enter some risk of not getting one of them.

I’m only interested in Sewell in the 1st. If he falls. The new staff proved that they can coach Oline and we can find those later. I like Horn because he reminds me of Richard Sherman. Big and handsy.

So this is two rounds. I posted more above but here are some key people discussed here and where they are. If you have faves, let me know and I’ll post

11. Giants: Azeez Ojulari Edge
12. Eagles: Devonta Smith WR
13. Chargers: Slater T
14. Vikings: Jaelen Phillips Edge
15. Panthers: Horn CB
16. Cardinal: Waddle WR
17. Raiders: Jenkins OT
18. Dolphins: Najee Harris RB
19. Washington: Darrisaw OT
20. Jets: Vera-Tucker G

24. Bills ; Kwity Paye Edge
25. Jags: Barmore DT
31: Browns: Farley CB
32. Raiders: Moehrig S

Rd 2

41. Lions: Zaven Collins LB
44. Cowboys: Richie Grant S

That makes sense too, if you like Surtain way more than everyone else left on your board.
Take the player in that case.

But if you like 5 players about equally, there is literally zero risk in trading down 4 spots (for example.
Absolutely zero risk, plus you add more draft capital.
But thats IF you are fine with any of those guys.

This is my own thinking but I don’t see how they could like 5 players equally. Position and need has to affect those rankings to some degree.

If you trust Broaddus it seems they’ve zeroed on CB if you aren’t Sewell or Pitts

I agree, but...

You're talking about the Chargers, Vikiings and (in this scenario) the Panthers, who've already traded down. Who's trading up, and for whom?

I could see the Chargers or Panthers moving up for any of Slater, Surtain or Horn if they love them...but that takes one of them off your list and the other two could go to the Giants and Eagles. I can't see any of them moving up for Smith or Waddle, not with the other guys that are sitting there. I'm just not sure how this trade works.
