I think that delay was actually planned. They sold it very well as if it was an actual attempt. They will use that later if the opportunity presents itself.

Al and Chris were fooled, becasue of their Eagles bias thinking the Falcons were lucky.

I think you're giving the Falcons too much credit. If that was planned they almost blew it by snapping too early, and what would be the point of pretending you were running a play after the clock ran out?
