FALCONS SIGN HARRINGTON

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Falcons have signed Joey Harrington to serve as the primary backup quarterback to starter Michael Vick. The signing also is being reported by Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

Financial terms are not yet available.

Harrington, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2002 draft, was trade to the Dolphins last year by the Lions. He was cut earlier in the offseason by the Fins.

HARRINGTON GETTING $6 MILLION

A league source tells us that the contract that Joey Harrington has agreed to with the Falcons is worth $6 million over two years.

The total value is close, if not identical, to the package received last week by David Carr in Carolina.

Harrington has not yet signed the deal. We're told that he is flying to Atlanta for the commencement of a Tuesday minicamp, and that he'll sign the deal when he arrives.

Atlanta's made a few good moves lately. They traded a career backup, Schaub, to the Texans. In exchange, they moved up two slots in the first round this year and got a couple of second round picks for '08 and '09. To fill the hole vacated by Schaub, they've replaced with a backup quarterback of equal talent in Harrington.

They've positioned themselves well to either move up in the two five picks (Johnson, perhaps?) or sit tight and focus on landing either an offensive or defensive lineman. Pretty good moves if you ask me.

So much for that Bledsoe rumor.

Better move for them IMO. Not only is Harrington similar as far as mobility, but he's younger as well.

6 million dollars.

Joey "Oh no!" Harrington continues to steal money from NFL franchises. I pray he gets to start for them, lol. He is a disaster - quite simply one of the worst QBs in the NFL right now - and he gets 3 mil per. Sweet gig if you can get it.

Yeah, how are they going to live a respectable lifestyle and feed their families off such meager wages? Poor guys.

How do you feel sad for these guys? Both of them pocketed over $30 million with their original franchise.
