Anybody else think that Vick's staying out last year after he could have come back is now coming back to bite him?

It seems he hasn't been on track all season long and it's hurting their team pretty bad today. 4-14 for 30 yards and an INT.

Ridculous.

First, only the player knows for sure when he can come back from an injury.

Second, the switch to the wco is much more responsible for Vicks "not being on track" than for how quick he did or didn't come back last season.

Third, the time he missed to injury THIS preseason, in the wco, is more significant as well.

He could have come back last year. Even some of the other players were upset about it. Some of them were saying that they had to out there busting their butt playing, yet he wasn't.

Not to mention that some former coaches were getting on him for it, the least of which was Jimmy Johnson.

He should have played at the end of the season last year.

I trust one person on any injury - the player. It was Vick's leg, only he knows what he could do on it.

OK, well, I guess Vick is a very slow healer then. Slower than most in the NFL.

I'm sure it's probably hurting him, but so is the fact that he's not a good passing QB and never has been. He's always been a run-first guy which doesn't translate into NFL success very often.
I hate to admit it, but I think (as another frequent poster keeps reminding us) that we probably would've been better served drafting Leftwich instead of Newman or Suggs. Although Leftwich will play injured just like McNair every week (and the commentators make a big fuss about it and I get tired of it), the kid is good, real good.

Could possibly be, but I will trust his judgement before some fan irked he didn't return for his fantasy football team.

I'll trust Darren's judgement on his back, as well.

Regardless, Vick's performance today has zip to do with when he came back last year.

Put Schaub at QB and put a 34 on Vicks back and make him a RB.

I didn't have him on my FF team.

He was injured in the 2nd pre-season game. He was due to come back after the first month of the season.

Personally, I would have held him out longer since running is such a big part of his game. However, to stay out the entire season?

I'm saying that he hasn't been very good this YEAR. I say that some of the reason COULD BE due to him not playing AT ALL last year. You can say that a year off doesn't make a difference, I'll say that it does.

I dont think it has anything to do with that...he's just a lousy passer

great runner, terrible QB

Any developmental player who misses a full, or almost full season has missed a lot.

But considering the other factors, the preseason lack of work in the wco due to another injury, in particular, is a major factor in the "off-track" nebulousness.

Considering the number of variables that could be affecting his game today, the leg injury last year as a cause-effect in this particular game is moot. I'm not wathcing that game, and how the D is playing him, what personnel is on the field, what isn't, if they're playing catch up, etc. If I were, I could speculate.

But I do know of all the reasons Vick might be struggling today, how soon he got back from a broken leg last year is the silliest, and most inconsequential.

Nuff said.

I am pretty sure that Vick played the last 4 games of the season last year and the Falcons went 3-1 after he returned.....

That is correct, but he did not return fast enough, so he stinks today. :D

Again, re-read my original post. Nowhere did I say that it was about TODAY'S game alone. I said he's been off-track ALL SEASON LONG.

Ahhh.....I stand corrected.....he actually played in the last 5 games.

OK, so he's just the most over-rated QB in the NFL. Nuff said.

Jim, we could go on and on this all day - I know YOU'RE more than capable of it. :D

And I'm sayin a young QB learning a west coast offense who barely played during his critical first preseason in it, can look to that fact as a FAR more reasonable explanation for being "off track" than not returning from a leg injury soon enough to satisfy you last year. :p

Carter isn't the only developing QB who is going to look like less than Montana while he's learning, and the wco is no one year deal.

You can have the last word. LMAO

You could well be right about that. I have no problem with that. That's all you had to say originally instead of coming out and saying "ridiculous" and "silliest" and that it was due to people having him on their FF team. The FF team comment is ridiculous, IMO.

Also, read my previous post prior to this.
