If we go 3-2 we should be ecstatic; 2-3 though, even with the schedule being tough, will once again be backing in to the playoffs and would be par for the course for this franchise given the recent history. I'm assuming 2-3, with the only thing close to a comfortable W being the Skins game and even that's not really all that comfortable. I have seen nothing in the last 3 weeks to suggest that this team is going to be capable of a dominant December, especially against the teams we have on the schedule.

You can't be taken seriously. First of all, your sig says "I can't want until Romo is no longer a Cowboy." And your location is "I was right about Romo." What were you right about? That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen on this board. The one player we can't play without and you were somehow right by throwing him under the bus.

I just have one question for you: How does that crow taste?

One thing that seems to be left out of the discussion when talking about December is the fact that the NFL loves to stick us with at least two divisional rivalry games during that month. From my perspective, our schedule in December seems to always be brutal, which contributes to the perception that we don't play well. As an example, I pulled the schedules for the last few years:

2008
Dec 7 @ Pittsburgh
Dec 14 NEW YORK GIANTS
Dec 20 BALTIMORE
Dec 28 @ Philadelphia

2007
Dec 9 @ Detroit
Dec 16 Philadelphia
Dec 22 @ at Carolina
Dec 30 @ at Washington

2006
Dec 3 @ N.Y. Giants
Dec 10 New Orleans
Dec 16 @ Atlanta
Dec 25 Philadelphia
Dec 31 Detroit

2005
Dec 4 @ N.Y. Giants
Dec 11 Kansas City
Dec 18 @ Washington
Dec 24 @ Carolina

2004
Dec 6 @ Seattle
Dec 12 New Orleans
Dec 19 @ Philadelphia
Dec 26 Washington

I will never get posters like that. Do they want Romo to suck just so they can be right? Because if they are right, that means the Cowboys arent going anywhere. So, do they not want the Cowboys to succeed? I just dont get it.

Hos: Excellent article again this week.

The bottom line is this: Teams lose games. Those who want to revel in the misery of losses will certainly get their chance to do so. There will always be some dreaded stat to fret over or mistake made in wins to critique.

The media makes a living this way. They have to drudge up nonsense because few people pay much attention when wins are expected and everything is good. But if there is a traffic accident you can bet there will be rubber-neckers.

What Hostile calls "realists" (an ode to how they proclaim themselves) are just that: rubberneckers. They aren't realistic at all. Realists understand teams don't win Super Bowls regularly or go through 16 game seasons without bad performances.

For me life is too short to go through it unhappy. Accentuate the positive, work to make things better but do not whine and moan about things you can not change. To me being American means you shut up, do what needs to be done and celebrate the successes.

Want realistic? This team probably can not be expected to win a game in Minnesota on the road in the playoffs. If we got that far and won a playoff game to get there this would be a solid but not outstanding season. Those people who can't enjoy solid football seasons are following the wrong sport. This isn't 1990 NFL or MLB. This is parity era NFL.

Celebrate today while you can because someone else's turn is coming up shortly. For all the talk of the greatness of Belichek and the Patriots with Brady in his prime and Belichek in full on genius mode they have not won a Super Bowl in 5 years. Payton Manning is a beast but he has 1 title to his name. The problem with "realists" is they hate reality.

With that sig, you're having a giraffe.

What I don't get is how easily they forget Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter, Drew Bledsoes, Drew Henskunk, Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf as well as a few others who slip my mind because they sucked so bad. Now we have a legitimate pro-bowler and people want to cry about not having a good enough quarterback. Romo is top rated quarterback, yet some of the arm-chair-realists seem to think we can find someone better.... It's the height of stupidity.

I know you don't like Wade, so here is where I live up to my reputation and stir the pot. Has he done enough to warrant some props yet?
I don't dislike Wade, I'm just not sold on him as the best option for this team as Head Coach. I absolutely believe that when Parcells left us high and dry, and that is exactly how I feel he handled his departure, that Jerry Jones did the most thorough job of his career as GM in finding us a Head Coach and the best candidate was Wade. I won't deny that.

Where I diverge from that path is in saying he is still the best option to be Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I am also honest enough to openly admit that my candidate, Jason Garrett, is probably not the best option either. Not when there are Head Coaches with Super Bowl skins on the wall out there available.

I've never maintained Wade is a bad coach. In fact I admire football pedigree more than anyone on the forum, and you know that. It is a fault of mine more than it is a strength. Wade has football pedigree.

I'm not anxiously waiting for the day that Wade is gone. I'm not in a rush to put Garrett in as Head Coach. I'm not falling over myself trying to pimp Shanahan, Cowher, Gruden, or Holmgren (whom I know, though not well). I am fine with Wade as Head Coach and believe you can't argue with his overall success, and he is doing a good job.

I just stop short of saying he is the best option we have as Head Coach of the Cowboys and in my opinion we deserve the best options.

I think that is the fairest description/observation i have seen regarding Wade Phillips.

Opinions among everyone will vary but Phillips does deserve some respect. Not every coach, ex-jock, or Zone member could coach the Cowboys to the record we have had the last three seasons.

People can argue we could have been better certainly, but Phillips is not a complete hack.

Unfortunately his pedigree is of the not being able "to kick the damn door down" variety.

Cowboys lost to those same Steeler teams that Bum came up short on as well. He took a nothing team and made them legit contenders.

I like him better than Parcells. I don't think just because you've won a Superbowl that it makes you a better coach than someone who has, necessarily. The argument isn't a sufficient one in my book. I think you have to show something with the team you are currently coaching, and if you're doing that then I think you deserve respect.

Personally, I don't think we should have ever let Sean Peyton go. That's who should be our HC right now. But if he's not then I like Wade as well as any other coach out there. I just think Peyton is special and he has yet to win a Super Bowl.
