I had a bitter divorce yesterday with DirecTV, after 10 happy years together. I found out they were overcharging me $5 per month for the last 3+ years. When I asked for my $180 refund, they said they couldn't do that, but what they could do is credit me $5 per month for the next 3 months.

The conversation just went downhill from there.

I'm thinking about ATT Uverse. Anyone have it? How do you like it?

I was told they have something similar to the sunday ticket, something about getting so many other states local channels that you can watch thier local broadcast of football games?? Can anyone verify this?

Have it. Love it.

I don't know anything about other states' local channels.

Good. I have a couple questions for you.......

Since you get one master dvr, if you're in another room and see a show you want to record, can you do that? or do you need to go to the master DVR (living room), and go hit "record"?

Can you pause a show in another room if you're not using the master dvr?

As far as football goes.......so you're saying you can't watch "all the games"?

you just have to watch the local stuff?

I had a bitter divorce with DirecTV as well.

U-Verse is a really good service IMO but the HD picture quality doesn't seem as good as DirecTV in my area.

You can set and view recordings from any TV box. Only thing you can't do from the secondary boxes is rewind, pause or fast foward live TV.

I was a big fan of U-Verse when I first got it but not really as excited anymore.

I don't really watch a lot of TV anymore.

I don't have other states local channels.

They do have NFLN and Redzone so that's pretty good I guess.

You should have kept asking for someone higher up the chain at DTV.

I want it but it's not available in my neighborhood. Just a couple of months ago I stopped in the local store and they told me it would be at least 12-18 months away. Argh!!!

I would need to check. But I do have an iPhone app that lets me view the guide and record shows remotely, so I'd assume you could do this from any other TV in the house.

Can you pause a show in another room if you're not using the master dvr? Yes, for recorded shows.

answers above in bold.

Since U-verse is FTTN, it will depend on how far you are away from the node. I've had it in a few different locations and the data transfer, etc. will get worse the further you are from the node.

ATT Uverse does not have Sunday Ticket, right?

I am trapped by DirecTV until this monopoly ends.

Only DirecTV has Sunday Ticket. However NFL RedZone was actually pretty good last year. That and you can typically find live feeds of the game somewhere online.

Oh I did. In fact, this morning I sent an email to the CEO. Guess who just got a call from the Presidents Office?????

Thats right baby !!! Lets just say that they made everything right in the world. Thank goodness, for a minute there I thought I was going to be stuck watching only local tv football games (Cringe to think of that).

Gratz! I'm a DTV n00bie. It's not even installed yet. Hopefully I will be as happy as *most* DTV subscribers are.

I'm the curious sort. What did Directv overcharge you for?

I have been closely reviewing my DTV bill since last year. They overcharged me $100 for my SuperFan package. They refunded me (actually credited my next bill for the difference), but it took two phone calls to get it back.

As far as what they offer, its the best

I prefer my Uverse over Direct TV and Dishnetwork and with the price of Sunday ticket it would be cheaper for me to go around the corner and watch all the games I do not get to watch on Local Houston channels in the little bar right by my house.

Damn! All of this talk about overcharging is going to make me audit DTV's invoices for the past year or so.

Directv is a mixed bag with their service. They are often quick to offer you some discount or credit, but often times if you check out your bill closely they didn't give you what they said, or at least not as much. And when you call in to complain about that, they'll usually see that you called, but mysteriously the "notes" from the call don't mention anything about what you were offered. You really have to stay on top of them, get the names of who made you the offer, etc.

They had been charging me for 4 receivers for three years when I actually only had three.

$100 credit. Not the $180 I wanted, but enough to keep me from the hassle of switching to another carrier.
