It reminds me of that 90's movie with Scott Bakula "Necessary Roughness." The coach needed a kicker bad so he looked at the girl's soccer team for one. I don't see why there aren't more scouts looking at Soccer players to see if they can be "turned" to the light side.

If you watched the USFL last year, you should not be surpised.

If you watched training camp this year, you would very surprised.

Glad he figured it out and survived camp. He's been fun. Would be nice to have Kicker locked down for the next several years (he's 28).
Camp in Oxnard is difficult on kickers. He did miss one in the preseason, though, going 3 of 4.

Man it’s truly amazing because nobody saw this coming.

Probably not luck!
We found him before anyone else.
Ehhh.

Not too many teams went into camp with the Kicker uncertainty that the Cowboys did.

They signed him late but almost every other team had proven kickers or real competition. Vizcaino was on 10 teams before Dallas, with 9 whole career field goals. Cowboys didn't sign Aubrey until July. He played two seasons for the USFL and was really good there:
  • 2022- Aubrey played in all 10 games making 18 of his 22 field goal attempts (81.8%) and 22 of his 24 extra-point attempts (91.7%), which both led the league. He also had a league-leading 55 kickoffs with a 66.5-yard average. On June 16, Aubrey was named to the inaugural All-USFL Team
  • He finished the season 14-for-15 (93.3%) on field goals with a 49-yard long while also finishing 35-for-35 (100.0%) on extra-points, which led the league. He also added a league-leading 57 kickoffs and six touchbacks. The Stallions finished the regular season with a 8–2 record, making them the champions of the South Division. After winning the Divisional Finals against New Orleans Breakers, 47–22, the Stallions made it to their second-straight USFL Championship Game. During the game, Aubrey made all four of his extra-point attempts to help the Stallions win, 28–12

Fortunate? Yes.

Deliberate? No.

It's okay to be lucky with player personnel. Kurt Warner was luck. Terrel Davis in the 6th round was lucky. Great teams are riddled with unexpected finds.

Pretending it was some clever plan by the FO is just kidding yourself.

I think Dallas has 3 more seasons of easily-controlled and affordable contracts. More (controlled) years if they want to Franchise him after the 2026 season.

I bet they pay him before that though.
Unless he collapses, I would say so.

Brandon Aubrey should definitely leave 3-4 tickets for Messi so Messi can see Aubrey kick field goals in person when the Cowboys go play the Dolphins in Miami 2 weeks from now.

Can you imagine if Messi showed up, especially wearing a Cowboys jersey??? Jerry Jones needs to jump on this great opportunity, contact Messi and invite him over to Jerry's visiting booth while offering Messi a Cowboys jersey to watch the Cowboys vs Dolphins game together. Can you imagine how many Argentinians and South Americans would start following/watching the Dallas Cowboys?!?! That would be worldly HUGE!!!!!
