One offensive lineman that has a couple of teams interested in the second/third round range is Auburn OT Lee Ziemba. Hearing he’s getting a lot of consideration as a potential starting right tackle in the NFL.

• The hot “developmental” offensive tackle I keep hearing about is Virginia Union’s David Mims. Could possibly come off the board in the same range as Ramon Harewood last season.

• There are growing concerns in draft circles about where Purdue DE Ryan Kerrigan can play in the NFL. He doesn’t look fluid enough to play in space and lacks the anchor to hold up as a down defensive end. Also, a lot of sources have also said he’s a pretty “blah” athlete and isn’t going to test well at the NFL Combine.

Go ahead and pencil Ziemba in as a 8-10 year starter.

He might be a target at 40 when it's all said and done.

Could be this year's Unger.

The hot 2nd round OL that multiple teams are after.

He's a 3 position prospect and possibly 4.

• Baylor DT Phil Taylor is the one prospect I’m hearing could be the guy who gets drafted a lot higher than most assume. With his combination or size and athleticism paired with the need/lack of 3-4 nose tackles in this year’s draft, hearing it’s possible a team could end up reaching for him in the top-15.

Not sure I see a top 15 pick for Taylor, but could quite easily see Round 1.

Makes me laugh that I got butchered for saying this a while back. :laugh1:

Taylor's been skyrocketing up draft boards and could go as early 15 to Miami or 21 to Kansas City. If he continues this surge could he become another option for us at 9? Teams usually put a premium on Nose Tackles in the draft and from a financial standpoint NT makes more sense to shell out big bucks than a 5-technique.

I dont think we will see a worse candidate for #9 all year

Coming from the guy hates Jordan at 9.

I think it's a safe bet to say Phil Taylor won't sniff the 1st round, let alone the middle of the 1st. You're hearing a lot of conjecture on Draft websites because Taylor showed well at the Senior Bowl.

You've heard the saying "out of sight, out of mind?" Well the flipside of that is when you're in the sight of everyone (offseason...Senior Bowl), a good showing in an offseason event can make you the apple of everyones eye...temporarily.

Come combine time in Indy in few weeks, some new prospect is going to be the cat's meow and shoot up the draft board, or so it would seem.

I wouldn't blink if we took Phil Taylor in the 2nd round under the right circumstances, but he's not a #9 candidate by any stretch.

The guy is likely a two-down player at the next level.

the problem is no one is saying he's in the mid first round range. I may be missing it, but I've only seen he has a chance to go in round 1. Going top 10 is another huge leap which is far from likely

I don't get why his stock is skyrocketing. How much tape is there already on this guy? He was unimpressive in the bowl game so all his hype is based on what, his senior bowl?

This is ridiculous.

Only reason to take a guy with some charactor issues is that he is so much better then what you have or is so much better than anyone available at that pick. Basically like Dez was for us.
Taylor in no way is good enough to make it to the top 20 let alone the top 10. The guy is a TWO DOWN PLAYER.

I think we should trade up in the top 5 then draft Taylor.

No, he cant. He isnt even remotely close to being worth the 9th pick overall.

Rob Ryan will FIX the defense and get additional players to FIT his scheme. We may even get Shaun Rogers to play NT and one or two other defensive players that Cleveland CUT recently. One or more could provide the necessary DEPTH for our defense at NT, ILB and other key defensive position lacking depth (and experience) at the moment.

Jerrah needs to address the OL in the early rounds in this year's draft due to our (unusual) drafting position of picking 9th in each round. Our 90's team had the BEST OL in the NFL and our D-Line had the best DEPTH and rotation as well. We NEED to get more younger and explosive at the Guard and Center position and draft the BPA OT in Rd 1. If we draft and upgrade our TALENT base in the OL THIS YEAR, we'll be a VERY DANGEROUS TEAM COME THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!

Hopefully, Jerrah will get us a BIG RB or two as well to wear down teams and then HIT them with the BIG STRIKE to Dez or Miles going deep. This new strategy will also keep our DEFENSE more fresher and with Rob Ryan's scheme, I expect alot more turnovers (i.e. picks & fumbles) and more 3 and out by opposing offenses.

That being said, we'll need to ensure our OL can sustain the added minutes on the field. So, we definitely NEED to get BIG and NASTY and YOUNG on the OL with a couple of BIG RBs to wear down opposing defenses.

Trust me, NOBODY will want to FACE the Cowboys if we have a nasty OL with big RB's, big WR's, and Rob Ryan leading our defensive unit (especially is we're able to sign Shaun Rogers and rotate him with Raftilff at the NT position) and get more of Cleveland's recently CUT defensive players for depth (they were slightly older and making TOO MUCH money).
