Do you think many of today's players are studying the 'little things' about the game like they did back in the day? No.
Quite the opposite, I'm sure in that literally everyone studies the "little things" in today's NFL, whereas in Lilly's day it was probably pretty uncommon.

Get out.

Half the players today don't even think about the game once they leave the facilities.

Back then you played for the love the game.

Today some guys play for money only.

The idea that the amount of film study 30 years ago matched what it does today is just a bit silly, but believe whatever you want to believe.

DC, I agree with what you said on the blog. Cutting off the pod of the interview in the middle is just a crying shame.

The show hosts at the Ticket are not happy with it either.

Of course they didn't. The technology was not there.

And that's not really what I am referring to.

I am speaking about some players looking for every advantage available to them so they can elevate their game. That's not all about film study.

Are there more students of the NFL game today or back in the day?

Much more today. The competition is much more fierce. The talent is much higher today. If you're not putting the work on detail the guy across from you is and you're going to pay for it. And the fact that film review is so much more accesible and advanced today it takes the attention to detail to a whole other level.

Don't romanticize the past so much.

I think guys like Ware do ...... and it shows.

you mean to tell me that Norm, who has been a sports guy all these
years never heard a defensive lineman say that they looked at the fingertips
to see if they were leaning forward or not ?? gimme a break, that act of his
was ridiculous.

i gotta agree with theo, my money is on more players today studying than
the old days.

i love bob lilly and the old cowboys but i still feel todays players see more film
and have more info on tendencies available to them.
