Has Bobby Carpenter made you forget about Kevin Burnett? That's a good question. I don't think Bobby has been playing at a Pro Bowl level, but he's done a decent job I guess because I really don't remember him being singled out all that much...

Bobby on ESPN Radio

Good to hear Bobby giving Jay Ratliff major props. The man is a stud ball player who could play any Dline position in any style defense.

While I said above that Bobby wasn't playing at a Pro Bowl level there is no doubt this is his most productive year and he's now a major contributor as the nickel LB.

It was a race last year between Canty and Burnett as to who was the most overrated Cowboy. i give the nod to Canty but it was pretty close especially amongst the fanbase.

Fanbase? I opened this thread already perceiving that a full fledged belly rub was going down...inclusive of a giant leap prefacing. Low and behold....and there wasn't much to be debated with the departure of both of these players, who were 'just' Cowboys before leaving. What about the incoming Greg Ellis, forget that addition?

Now, be really inciteful and tell me what Lord Byron would pontificate. My signature line has always been: There is no right way to do the wrong thing. Go figure....

Fanatic, I like Bobby Carpenter, because he is the underdog, and really has worked at his game. I loathe his tendency to protect himself, when a hard delivery would completely solve problems. He has, I must declare, made a significant addition as well as added a need mobility in the soft places exploited by today's running backs and offensive ends. The island areas involving the secondary are still being battled, but that involves as much with injury and consistency as to talent levels at present.

Yeah...Bobby commits the unforgivable football sin of playing a cowardly game.

You already preach to the choir here...as I have the entire off season to now, defended the player - Bobby Carpenter against any and all comers. For the record....:starspin

Yeah, well, defend him all you like. He's a freaking wuss and no amount of defending will change that. No fire, no heart, no desire. What makes it all the more disgusting is the guy has all the physical tools...but he's a wimp.

Maybe, you haven't been watching his heart and all his actions closely enough, and some stereotype has creeped in as well. Notice a couple of sacks and quite a few on the line and drive stopping tackles in the open field? Maybe some perspective is missing in the above stated opinion, and a band wagon approach to a whipping dog for failure has been established as well. Did you by chance watch his intensity of play during training camp? I was there in San Antonion with my wife beside me. Even she can give a better version of his play. One would think that he now replaces Ichabad Crane....at least the windmill in Don Quixote.

Sorry, Mr. Carpenter, but your son Barbie plays soft. He lets others make the plays and jumps on the pile at the end. His 'big' sack was a fluke play that allowed him to come straight up the middle untouched.

When he starts fighting off blocks and blowing up ballcarriers I will be impressed.

Until then...meh.
