Drew Pearson loves him some Crayton

More radio stations should give current and former football players opportunities to guest host their shows because you get some really great radio.
On Thursday we had some excellent radio from Bradie James as he jumped on ESPN 103.3 for a couple of hours. You can find just about all of that audio on my blog.
Well on Friday they brought in Cowboys legendary receiver Drew Pearson.
Here’s Drew talking about the current crop of WR’s for the Cowboys and the concern about some of them always being on the injury report…
Drew talks current Cowboys WR’s
I thought everything was going great with Roy as he talked about getting in tune with Romo and losing weight. He did look good in the OTA’s/Minicamp from most reports too.
But I guess I am wondering about that stuff with him and the media. Just get on the field and do your thing Roy. Do not let the media get to you big fella.
Drew loves him some Crayton huh. I like him too, but I don’t see anything special where he ever becomes a #1 WR.
It’s not good that some of these guys who are supposed to step in and play big roles for the offense this season are already starting out with nagging injuries in July.
Is a case of these young WR’s being soft? Please don’t let that be the case.
We move to Drew talking about the Skins spying on the Cowboys and his chances of getting into the Ring of Honor with Jerry as the owner…
Drew talks Skins/RoH
Of course the Skins weren’t trying to cheat with that S.O.B George Allen (R.I.P to Mr. Allen) as their head coach.
It’s just annoying that Drew, and a host of others, aren’t already in the Ring of Honor. If it was up to me I would be putting in players every year.
I agree with Drew that Jerry does not embrace the past enough. There is such a rich history with the Cowboys and we never really hear about any of those guys from the 60′, 70’s and 80’s being a big deal in the Cowboys happenings.
Jerry is all about ‘his’ Cowboys from 1989 and on. That’s just not right and there is no excuse for it. The fact that he isn’t having a Ring of Honor ceremony at any point this season in the new stadium should be annoying to all Cowboys fans.
Here’s Drew talking about not being inducted into NFL Hall of Fame yet…
Drew on being snubbed from the HOF
You have to think the fact that his own team hasn’t honored him with their highest honor has to play a part in his snub from the HOF.
That just makes sense right? This HOF thing is way too political these days.
And that is a good point. If Drew would have played longer and put up more stats he may have a case for his enshrinement into the HOF that could not be argued.
Drew has a favorite NFL WR and he’s probably the best in the game right now…
Drew talks Larry Fitzgerald
You gotta love Drew comparing himself to Fitz. I don’t think Drew had the physical game of Fitz, but I can assure you he has the ‘confidence game’ of a Larry Fitzgerald.
Drew isn’t a fan of Terrell Owens, lol. Nor is he a fan of the younger WR’s learning from a guy like Owens.
Let’s wrap it up with Drew talking about the current Cowboys…
Drew talks 2009 Cowboys
There are some great guys on this team. They are loved within the community and if there is anything you can like from the Parcells era it’s that he got that aspect of the team fixed before he left.
Landry vs Wade, lol. We all know where I stand on Wade so I am not even going to bash him on this because I am tired of ‘hearing’ myself talk about it.
My hope is that the players take over the team this season. They are grown men who are professionals and it’s time for them to drive this car to wherever it’s going to go.
Let Wade and the coaching staff help with some guidance on this trip. But from the the back seat, not from the drivers seat.
That may not sound right to some people. And it’s not how many NFL teams are doing it these days. Nor is it how I want the team to be run when Wade isn’t here anymore. But I think it’s a must for this 2009 season.
Wade’s just not a take control guy like a Belicheck. So don’t try and force him to be that guy. If the players see Wade trying to hard to be a stickler he’s going to lose them.
Romo knows what he did wrong. Do I know this for a fact? No, but I have faith that he’s a kid who can learn from his mistakes.
And it’s been done to death that some of his comments in that post game presser were a huge mistake so I am sure he’s aware of it.
And come on. Give it up to Mosley for keeping it light.
‘He can call Joe Simpson..’.
That was funny, lol.
