Here's Emmitt Smith on with David Smoak over at KTBB Radio...

Emmitt talks with KTBB Radio

That's good stuff from Emmitt right there. Now some of you might be saying we have been hearing the same thing over and over again from former players and fans since that Philly game.

Good. I hope we keep on hearing it until this team finally gets it and winds up with a Super Bowl victory.

This team has to find a few leaders and let them lead. Then the other players need to follow them into some success when January rolls around so we can stop talking about this stupid playoff win drought that this franchise is going through right now.

I also love Emmitt's point about how the team was able to come together and fight for one another when things got tough.

And I love that point because for me it's the exact reason why a guy like Terrell Owens had to go. People say he was a leader. Well what kind of 'team leader' runs off to an interview with Deion after a huge win to get the team back on track so he can dis his offensive coordinator?

That's not leading and it's surely not anything that will bring the players (offensive) together as a rallying point. It's more like those players are now looking at you and saying, 'when times got tough he abandoned us and tried to tell everyone he wasn't to blame for the lack of production because he was doing what he was supposed to do'.

There are fans out there who aren't really fond of Ken Hamlin anymore because he didn't have a great 2008 season and he was pretty bad in that Ravens game. But I think there is one quality in him that's keeping me on board. He comes off like a no nonsense type of guy who is never looking to assign blame to anyone else but the team. Sort of like a 'we win as a team and we lose as a team' attitude. That's what a true team leader does. And of course I know he has to perform on the field as well, but if he's giving it his all and he's focused on keeping the team first attitude over everything else then I can deal with a few bad plays here and there.

I think this 2009 team (players) has to have a similar attitude of that 1995 team in that it's got to stop looking to anyone but themselves when they hit the field on Sundays. If you do what you are supposed to do all week in preparation then on Sunday you should be ready to go out there and play up to your talent level. When guys are making stupid penalties over and over again and missing assignments on a regular basis then that's obviously not happening.

If you are in the NFL you are a professional athlete and being paid a nice salary to play a kids game. So it's time to man up already and stop being the team that is chock full of talent all across the board but for whatever reason can't do anything with it during the season.

What kind of leader talks about how if losing a football game is the worst thing to happen to him, he's lived a good life?

I'm just saying.

One that was obviously not a leader.

And one who has only been on the job for a few seasons, not thirteen.

At least we have hope he's going to change and we have heard him admit he needs to do so.

Did we hear anything like that from your guy?

Don't even say yes because the internet may shut itself down.

Who's my guy?

I'm not one of the "Tearrell" backers, if that's what you're implying.

I may have you confused with someone else.

Sorry about that.
