Keith Brooking on BaD Radio

By dcfanatic,

Here's Keith Brooking with the fellas over at BaD Radio talking Cowboys...

Brooking on BaD Radio

He has become the emotional leader of this team in a very short time. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing?

Good because this team needed it or bad because it's been missing and a team should not be depending on a first year Cowboy who's 34 years old to be that guy.

I guess we could just look forward on this and be happy he's here.

No doubt he's made a ton of fans in Dallas and he's showing everyone that he has plenty of gas left in the tank.

I think it's a good thing DC. We wouldn't think any differently if Ray Lewis had come here to do exactly that. So why is it bad that Keith has assumed that role? It's a good thing.

Yeah. I was just wondering aloud why it took so long for someone to completely take a strong hold of this role on the defense.

And for this season it's awesome.

Now next season and beyond who knows.

Brooking is 34. He's a Wade guy and we just drafted Williams. Bradie is not going anyway soon I don't think.

I guess I was looking for the ideal on this.

You mentioned Ray Lewis. He's been the face, heart and soul of that defense for so long now. I just wish this defense had a young guy who was ready to become the next Ray Lewis for the Cowboys.

I love Ware and Ratliff. But I don't see them filling that role ya know.

Anyone got a time machine? Maybe we could go back and get Brooking in like 2002, lol.

I certainly would think differently because I can't stand that jerk. Brooking is a good person as well as a great player. Lewis is a thug who narrowly escaped being charged with murder. He may have found religion but he is still an attention ***** IMO.

There is no comparison between the two in terms of character. Brooking is a GREAT addition for his leadership and for what he produces on the field as well as the example he sets for the entire team.

Totally agree.

He is a total "breath of fresh air", especially when compared to a lot of others in todays NFL, and sports world overall.

A total class act, .. much like Ware, Witten, Choice, Romo.

Very good post and I agree with you about a long term voice or inspiration of the defense. I would love to see one. I actually think we have guys on the Defense who fill this role but are quiet. Brooking is quiet. We know about him because the other players are talking about him and we see him in the games making plays. But Brooking isn't doing a herky jerky dance to fire up the crowd, or seeking out the microphone, or being the face of the franchise like Lewis. It's leadership, but it is quiet leadership. I'm with you about wanting it, but I don't know that it has to be as visible as Ray Lewis. I'll take quiet and effective. Just please give us that guy.

An interesting comparison - influenced by a Heineken? I agree with your contention and further add that eventually Ware will fill those shoes.

Demarcus Ware leads on the field by example.

He isn't going to get caught up in what the offense is doing and run down the sideline the way Keith Brooking does sometimes when a big plays occurs.

And Ware isn't going to go around on the sideline talking to the various personnel groups the way Brooking did, either.

There are different kinds of leadership.

We've needed a player like Brooking for a very long time.

I was hoping Dat Nguyen was going to be that guy when we brought him on board as an assistant coach but I don't see much from our assistants besides DeCamillis. I guess it needs to come from the players though.
