Here's Miles Austin talking with The Michael Irvin Show from the airport where he's about to board a plane to go talk with the Jets...
Austin talks Cowboys and Jets
What's difficult about getting a big raise if the Jets offer him something and then the Cowboys match that offer? The kid is riding high right now.
He's got the company line down pat right now. Just talk about how you are doing your job and you let the pieces fall where they may.
I think he wants to be a Dallas Cowboy when this is all said and done, but it's tough not to go check out the Jets (he's from New Jersey too) and see how much they want him.
It's going to be a tough decision for Jerry to let him go if the offer from the Jets isn't all that crazy. I don't want Jerry to panic and think that Miles Austin is the key to the offense by any means because he's not. The Cowboys will get a second round pick back if Austin leaves and if you combine that with all the picks they already have they can do something via a trade, the draft or FA to replace him.
Miles is a good kid and that's what you hear when from him in this interview. He's praising Jason Garrett, saying he could never knock a QB and he's refreshing with his comment that even if the chemistry wasn't going well he would say it was, lol.
Right now I think it's about a 75/25 split that he's back in Dallas. The Jets will probably not overpay so that means Jerry will match the offer and Miles will be getting a nice raise.
