Patrick Crayton just doesn't understand that he's already made a rep for himself as a big mouth in the media so it's not likely that he's going to get a break if he says something 'a little fishy' in regards to his QB and his Offensive Coordinator.

Here's Crayton on Galloway and Company earlier today...

Crayton on GAC

I don't think he was trying to throw a dig at Romo or at Garrett. But I also don't think he's smart enough to convey his thoughts to the media where some of the stuff he says can't be misconstrued by some people.

Especially when he says the offense is now going to be 'Garrett friendly' when Jerry Jones never uttered that phrase.

I can also understand how some people saw his original comments as him sounding a little annoyed that Terrell Owens was released.

He came off sounding like he was saying that now that T.O. has been used as the scapegoat for the failures there is no one left to point the finger at and now all the pressure is on Tony Romo and Jason Garrett because they were the ones who could not work with Terrell Owens any longer.

Does that sound right to you?

It does to me.

Crayton would be doing himself a huge favor if he started avoiding the media for while because he's now heading into the same territory that Terrell Owens found himself in for the latter portion of is career.

That being where he is always trying to explain what he meant as opposed to what people thought he meant.

Crayton's a punk who I hope is gone after 2009. Hopefully Roy/Miles step up and we can find a #3 between Stanback/Hurd/draft pick.

true DC crayton needs to keep his mouth shut, prove it on the field first, make those big catches first in those big games and win some playoff games first, then you can talk

Crayton was a hard working, blue color guy untill TO got here.

Then Crayton started talking trash, and being a mini-TO without the game to back it up of course.

We got rid of some chemistry/attitude problems. I wont be sad to see Crayton go next offseason if we can get some different talent at the WR position.

Patrick Crayton speaks

Patrick Crayton has taken some heat on the blog and in sports talk radio recently for some comments he made regarding Tony Romo and Jason Garrett.

Crayton said he supports Garrett and Romo but said they and everyone else on the team can't make excuses for why things don't work.

Crayton said his honestly is sometimes taken out of context but he doesn't plan on changing.

"It's time to move forward, nothing we can do about last year," he said. "Once it became Jan. 1, 2009, you can't go back. Our deal is 2009."

Crayton's Atlanta-based agent, Fred Lyles, wants the fans to know that his client is supportive of the team.

"It's amazing to me how people really don't know this kid," Lyles said. "We and he could have gotten more money as a free agent but he decided to forgo free agency because he didn't want money to be a factor. If he gets out on the open market he would have been a sought after receiver. To say he's not a team player is not true."

Crayton said it's time for the Cowboys to move on from the 2008 season that saw them finish 9-7 and miss the postseason.

The release of wide receiver Terrell Owens could affect Jason Witten and Crayton.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the release of Owens was about allowing
Roy Williams to become the No. 1 receiving threat and for the other wideouts to develop.

Crayton believes he's the starter opposite Williams and plans to take advantage of it when training camp starts in July.

"I'm competing for a job like everybody else," Crayton said. "But I do feel like I'm a starter unless someone takes it from me. I feel like I am the guy opposite Roy, until someone takes it from me and if they do, then I have to take it like a man and play my role."

Mini Me or Mini "T"? I kept hearing "my quarterback... my offensive coordinator", now if that doesn't sound like the guy whom is now in Buffalo, then I don't know who it sounds like... IMO!

Juaqin Iglesais WR Oklahoma

Remember the name, Patrick. You better hope he's not on the board at # 69.

Mohamed Massaquoi WR Georgia

Remember that name, too. You better hope he isn't around in round 4.

Patrick Crayton is on thin ice, imho.

I would rather play with Casper.

I thought he was pretty good, actually. He said he wasn't taking a shot at his QB and coaches and never would, and I thought he sounded pretty truthful about it.

I did too.

I rarely use the word agenda because I think it is lame but a lot of people have an agenda against this guy obviously.

He is a freakin Dallas Cowboy who has done a heck of a job developing himself into a good player for us.

Yes he dropped a pass vs the Giants but overall we have gotten our dang bang for our buck.

He means good people. He's not a bad guy.

I thought what he said was pretty clear when I read it, especially when you consider his ESPN cameo where he basically served as "the player's" surrogate against Jason Garrett, during that interview.

This guy's attitude is poor. There is no excuse for what he said, imo. It's a product of his attitude. The Cowboys don't need Patrick Crayton telling them that "there are no more excuses". The media will do that for them with "the Player" gone. The Cowboys don't need JJT in their lockerroom. Crayton contributed heavily to losing that playoff game through his dropped pass and by stopping on that route. He needs to be quiet, because he shouldn't be lecturing anyone on that team.

It's obvious to me what Crayton was saying. He talked about "Romo friendly" and "Garrett friendly" at the end of his slightly veiled comments. That's a tough box to get out of, imo. If he wasn't referencing his jettisoned ihero, then, I've lost it.

If I was the GM, he would be gone. Period. I would rather lose than have his attitude in my lockerroom. He can be replaced. I would draft one of the two guys above and play Sam Hurd. Good-bye. His agent can go to all the teams that wanted him and work out a trade.

How about pulling a Jason Witten and saying "we need to win games".

Having said that. I will listen to the radio interview, because it only took me one time to read his comments and come to the conclusion others have taken.

Edit:

I listened to him on the clip, and I have not changed my mind. It sounds like damage control to me. When he talked about "no more scapegoats", it sure sounded like a veiled reference to "the Player" being "blamed" or booted. (He's the one that's gone. Who's still here? Tony Romo and Jason Garrett. They will be the guys that will be "under the microscope" by the media.) After he said that, he came right out with his "Romo and Garrett friendly" comments.

good interview by crayton and a great job explaning the situation

hes more then exceeded expectations since being here. i look forward to seeing him have another productive season if garrett can get his head out his ***

crayton seems like a cool dude. i respect cats like him and ellis that tell it like it is. crayton like roy is not gonna sit back and get bashed for not performing well when they were never put in position to do so because their coordinator did a terrible job. now everyone after the yr was looking at crayton like he was not capable, roy like he was a bust and owens like he was to old because of bad coaching by garrett.

if someones tarnishing youre rep and making you look bad im sure anyone of you would feel obligated to speak up

good job by crayton and roy speaking up this off-season

So you approve of guys going to the media and speaking up instead of just going to their coaches/teammtes and speaking up?

I'd wager that Crayton won't last much longer in Dallas. I expect him to be gone after this year. He's little more than an average player, yet he thinks of himself as a top tier WR.

He's easily replacable, and the little bit of talent he has comes up way short when weighed against him running his idiotic mouth.

As Galloway said yesterday, he's pointing the finger at Garrett and Romo, and yet neither pointed a finger at Crayton when he played so poorly in the '07 playoffs. Complete lack of class, and more importantly, complete lack of intelligence.

He should be stoked that TO is gone! I would...that would give me a better chance to get more catches, more td's, more money.

Maybe Romo needs to start being like Aikman was...if he didn't like you, you weren't getting the ball thrown to you very much!
