How about trading Choice for Ken Hamlin? He was 3 year starting FS who just two seasons ago had 5 INT's and 15 passes defended with Wade Phillips as his coach who's only 29 years old.

Choice could have the chance to take Barber's place if Barber is released after this year, not to mention the depth he brings us this year. You don't trade that for a declining safety.

That's a great rebuttal if there every was one.

I like Nelson and feel he can flourish under Campo. And he's young too. I'd look into trading for him under the right circumstances.

But the worst thing DC said was trading Bennett for him. Really? That's just stupid.

Yeah, Bennett, Choice or Scandrick would be much too much to give up for a player in the rut that Nelson is in.

At this point he's a once-highly-regarded reclamation project.

He's this close to being cut. No way I'd give up a promising young player for him, despite what Pat Kirwin was angling for.

If Patrick Crayton really wants out, and if the Cowboys were going to release him, and if the Jaguars were interested, I'd make the deal. And I'd throw in a likely cut like Patrick Watkins if need be.

Good point.

Except for the fact that the Cowboys had a dominant pass rush over those three seasons with 147 sacks (46, 59, 42) while Jax had a total of 80 sacks (37, 29, 14) in those three seasons.

Do you see a pattern?

Nelson had no pass rush while he was declining. Hamlin has no excuse.

I get the love for Choice.

But the kid is a role player. He's not going to make or break this offense.

LOL. Explain to me what Bennett has done? Show me where he is this entity that cannot be moved if you want to upgrade another position.

Potential. That's all he's been for two seasons.

He will if/when Barber goes down with an injury.

No he won't. Felix will still be a bigger part of the offense.

Tony Romo and the offensive line.

They make or break the offense.

Yeah. It's crazy to give up a 3rd string RB who never sees the field for a 3 year starting FS who just two seasons ago had 5 INT's and 11 passes defended with Dave Campo as his coach who's only 26 years old.

:banghead:

And please don't tell me Alan Ball is better than Nelson because you have nothing to even base such a notion on right now.
Hell No!!! to giving up Choice. I still remember when Jones and Barber were both hurt and we fielded a pretty good running game with Choice. And I wouldn't say he never sees the field he gets in there every game though I would like to see him get even more carries in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and save Barber for the 4th quarter.

I don't know if Alan Ball is better...maybe / maybe not. But If Carolina gave up on Nelson he can't be worth a player like Tashard Choice. Do what you want with Watkins and throw in Hurd or Crayton if you must but not Choice. Not until Felix proves he has durability.

I'd like to see Bennett get that third season to see if he can live up to all that potential. I'd hate to see him do it on another team after we have lived with his growing pains. But it the coaches and scouts think that Nelson is all that you seem to believe he is then I might give up Bennett and maybe a little extra but not much extra.

Once upon a time Ken Hamlin had 5 picks and some pds too. What happened the last two seasons?

Nelson may end up being cut anyway. I wouldnt be opposed to taking a look at him if it only cost us a bit player or a late rd pick, but there's no way in hell I'd give them Tashard Choice for a guy who's been a mammoth bust the last two seasons.

And you want to trade a solid role player for a guy who may be cut. How smart is that.

If something happens to Jones or Barber (who've both been injured the past two seasons) I have no doubt Choice can step in and help keep the offense going, he's already done it. Nelson is just a prayer at this point. His play has been terrible the last two seasons.

Are you serious with this? Bennett is alot better NFL player at this point than Reggie Nelson, and it isnt even close.

Dude, just stop.

they can get a 7th for him. Maybe a 6th at most. I'm not giving up Choice for Nelson. Choice is the future of this team.
