Wow... he almost broke a few runs tonight... caught by the kicker arghh! LOL

Those 2 deep passes... he would have had 2 TD's. PI calls were big... and great.

They tried to say that the last one shouldnt have been called.... they defender was getting ready to climb up his back... hands and feet.

Austin could make a impact down the stretch.

I think what those two plays showed was tath Austin has the speed to get by the secondary. He could become our deep threat if Glenn doesn't comeback this year.

I also think it is only a matter of time before he returns one for a TD.

As for the second PI call, all the mediot talk about that not being PI is really starting to piss me off. He put his hand on Austin's shoulder pad and arm so it definetly could be/should be called as PI. I have seen far less obvious PI calls than this one. Also, Collinsworth was commenting on him turning his head to the ball but what I saw was he turned his toward the ball but before the ball got there he then turned it back to the defender when he grabbed him.

He seems to have improved tremendously in his route running since the preseason.

Did he supplant Hurd as the 3rd receiver? I didn't see Hurd at all.

On another note, I hope we can keep Ray Sherman around for a long time.

I've been talking this guy up since we signed him last offseason. Even when everyone was all over Hurd's nads (deservedly so, he has done well too) I was still talking up Austin.

And I will continue to do so. The guy simply has the physical tools that Hurd will never have. It's no different then with Romo. Romo came from a small school and needed extra time to learn the pro game and adjust to the speed. Austin is from an even smaller school. People expect immediate results from these small school players and if they don't get them, they say said players must suck.

Hell, even the BIG school players sometimes need time to develop. It's unrealistic and flat out dumb to expect a small school nobody to play top notch right off the bat. Yes, it DOES happen, but those are exceptions, not the rule.

he seems to have been working w/ Terry Glenn, because he doesn't lose much, if any speed when he goes into his routes

that's usually a problem for guys w/ straightline speed, and what enabled him to beat his man bad twice tonight, he was a great find

He was a great find. I'm not sure why he went undrafted though.

If you put his numbers into my formula (even severely discounting his production because he played at a small school) he sticks out pretty high.

I was going to post this earlier in the week, then decided it wasn't worthwhile, but from Wade's presser the other day when he was talking about having guys who can get off the jam, I assumed he wasn't talking about Hurd.
