I just think it's funny how everyone said how hard it would be to replace Owens production. We inserted an undrafted FA into the mix and he's damn near equaled the production of a future HOF'er.

Here's Owens 08 stats after week 9:
35 catches, 467 yards, 6 TD's, for a 13.34 average.

Now here's Austin in 09:
27 catches, 612 yards, 7 TD's for a 22.7 average.

I will fully admit I was an Austin doubter this offseason, and he has proven me wrong with his play. But for all the talk about it going to be so difficult to fill TO's shoes, it turned out to be quite easy.

I'm not even going to get into Romo Friendly or any of that, but it's funny to see just how easy it was to slide in an undrafted FA that we've been grooming at WR and we dont miss a beat so far.

I felt Austin could do the job and help this team I did not expect to see him play like he has been. Lastnight he did not get many chances and did have a drop but he came up big in the clutch.

Don't forget Miles has done all that in the last 4 games too. =) Of course everybody wondered where we would make up Owens production because he is one of the best of all time at the position. Even the biggest Cowboys homer couldn't have guessed Miles was going to produce at the level he is.

I thought Miles had a chance to do some real damage after watching him almost come away with about 3 TDs last year in GB, but I never thought he could do what he has. I'm glad I was wrong. :D

Nobody could've predicted this kind of production out of Miles Austin. Isn't it sweet? Isn't it grand?

Maybe the QB has a little more to do with it than people think. Romo made TO...and makes Miles....TO is nothing with Edwards or whoever the Bills throw in there. Just a thought.

Oh, wait...it's their 1st year in Buffalo, maybe it's a timing thing.....:D

Free agency: releases Terrell Owens

Draft: selects Manuel Johnson in the seventh round

Jones believes his team can win football games with Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin, Sam Hurd, Isaiah Stanback, Travis Wilson and Johnson. The possibility exists that he'll bring in undrafted free agents and maybe, just maybe, make a late free agency move for a veteran receiver--but for the most part, this is it. He thinks that the Dallas Cowboys can compete for a championship with this receiving crew and so do I.

Go Cowboys.

PS: Who's surprised? I'm not.

He's also tenth in the league in receiving yards, second in the league in plays of 40+ yds., tied for first in the league in plays of 20+yds, and tied for the league lead with 7 Td receptions...

A very small group of knowledgeable posters were not overly concerned about our WR's.:)

Jerry = Nostradamus

Jerry Jones the idiot GM? Say it isn't so. Those on the "I hate Jerry Jones" bandwagon will not appreciate this.

Remember the goofballs that wanted the Jets to take Austin?

First off, everyone thought Owens had a poor year last year so I don't see the point in comparing the two. But Austin has played GREAT. I thought he would be a solid #2. And maybe he is but he's a playmaker. I'm not sure I ever expected this. For one I had no idea he was 6'3. I don't know why but I was under the impression he was 5'10 lol. All these years you never heard people talk about his size and in reality he's more TO's build than I ever thought he was.

I was never worried about our WR's. However, I thought that our TE's and backs would contribute more in the passing game than they currently have.

Yes I know Witten leads the team in catches, but they're all dump-offs, and MartyB has been a disappointment in the receiving game so far.

But going into the season I was not worried about our WR's at all. I dont know how many times I brought up the Trent Green stat.

Austin should have a HUGE day this weekend given how the Packers play their coverage. He should find a lot of one on one and I think he can easily beat either of the Packers corners in that.

Damn... Miles is putting up Bob Hayes-esque numbers.

I'm just sayin. ;)

He's still learning the game. He's only going to get better. I hope RW and Romo connection keeps improving as well. I can't wait to see how good this offense will be in a month or so.

Here's another one -- Austin has three TD catches in the fourth quarter or overtime that were at least 40 yards AND gave us the lead. The entire rest of the league has seven TDs like that (seven players with one each).

Also, Austin leads the league with a 22.7-yard average per catch. If he somehow keeps that above 21.0 (which will be difficult), he'd be the first wide receiver to have back-to-back seasons averaging at least 21.0 YPC since Alvin Harper did it in 1993 and '94.

Yall are some funny people. It's cute though that Miles is getting crowned.
