Updated May 29th.

I only listed OL and DL. You can find other positions at the link below but I don't foresee them getting anybody at other positions.

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/42077/309/nfl-free-agent-master-list-13?pg=1

I have included Center below since I have read that Frederick may play G instead of Center but that still leaves tackle as a glaring position of need. I have heard Clabo as the most likely candidate and he will be my preference as well. If Frederick stays at C then perhaps Moore can be an option for a FA Guard.

I have read articles that claimed that Monte has indicated that he is comfortable with what he has on DL. If true, I will have to take his word for it. But signing a FA DT or DE for depth purposes may still not be out of the question.

So, based on the list of FA below. Identify one player at each of the five positions (T, G, C, DL, DE) you believe can make a contribution to the team and then rank the five players according to what you believe the team needs to address now that the draft is over.

I doubt we sign Clabo and Moore. At a certain point, you need to start establishing consistency with your line.

Give me Caldwell if Fredrick is our center

Nobody else at other positions?

You're doing it wrong guys...:laugh1:

Five players, one at each position. Then rank them according to what you believe to be most pressing needs that need to be addressed.

I would sign Moore and Idonije. I'd give Parnell a chance to start. Smith Moore Fred Livings Parnell.

If we do this then we absolutely have to keep Free. I don't really love that idea but expect that if he takes a substantial pay cut it is our preferred option

The only thing that will be consistent is Doug Free getting Romo killed.

Unless he got back on his cycle.

I can promise you that you will not establish consistency with Livings-Bernadeau & Costa or whoever the 3rd guy is. If we could somehow bring in both Clabo & Moore for 2 year deals, you would be a happy fan watching Romo behind an offensive line he can trust to protect him & not worry about getting killed many times throughout the season.

As I said above, I thought Parnell showed enough to get a chance to start. Ideally, Free would take a pay cut and be the swing tackle this season. Sign Moore and replace Livings with a draft pick next season. That's how you build a line.

That would be great but there's no cap room for that. I'd be happy with just Clabo. Let all the G/C's we have battle it out for the 2 G spots and let the best two play. With Frederick between them, the line play should be better. If they got Clabo signed, I would cut Free as a June 1st cut and when more money freed up, I'd look for a verteran pass rushing DE if one was still available or becomes available during camp.

I'd like to see some videos of Parnell.

I remember thinking he did alright. I'd like to go back and look.

This is what I saw a lot of, too. The team seems to think the issue was more at RG, but I'm not sure what I'm missing. It looked to me like the problem was C in the running game, and RT in the passing game. (With a notable exception of RG play early, but I believe that had to do with the injury and lack of experience with this OL early in Bernadeau's case).

RT play stabilized to 'adequate' late in the year, but I didn't see anything that made me think that was a solved problem.

That said, I think the team's looking at Brandon Moore. Clabo would only be an option if he represented an upgrade at a value; he probably won't at this point.

We may look at one of the Bear DLs. Okoye makes the most sense to me given his age and body type.

You don't get consistency by keeping an under performing player or sticking an unknown in there. If we cut Free and are able to sign Spencer, we should have enough.

This is great. How about Pat McQuistan, Leonard Davis and Andre Gurode?

I forgot Okoya was available. I remember hearing Marinelli liked him in Chicao. Give me Okoya, Clabo and Brian waters or Moore. and I will be very confident in this roster. Okoya is not a high priced guy, he is solid and he is young and should be available for a reasonable price. I give him a 3 year deal and Clabo 2 and Waters or Moore 1 with an option for a 2nd if we fail to find a young guard again this year. Cutting Free, and the 2 mil for Spears should be plenty to get this done. Think we save just under a mil too if we send Livings packing.

Wonder if interest in Okoya and/or maybe Israel Idonije both with Marinelli last year steered them away from that spot in the draft. Okoya makes more sense because he is young.
