There was no 1.0 to refer you to, at least not that I can remember.
1a. Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona. I think the Patriots will be looking closely at him because he's perfect for their cover three. I'll assume they go LT or OLB and Cason will slide to #22, with DRC and McKelvin both off the board as well.
1b. Limas Sweed, WR, Texas. I was tempted to go with a big athletic tackle like Nicks or Albert here. They could be thrown into the mix at LT or become road graders at LG if unsuccessful. I see one of Sweed or Hardy being available and both seem like safe projections at wideout. Some of the later picks - Jackson(s), Douglas, Royal - seem more like slot receivers and we need a true wideout to groom.
2. Chris Johnson, RB/PR, East Carolina. Soft hands and excellent speed make him an instant contriubtor out of the backfield as a receiver, or as a slot receiver and as a punt returner. He'll only be expected to carry the ball seven to ten times per game, but with our OLine opening up huge holes, he'll be a threat to break a large run often. He hits the holes quickly and with great speed. I think he'll make it here (late second round) because he's a bit of a luxury pick that many teams won't be able to afford with their first two picks. Teams looking for a feature back will look elsewhere first.
3. Red Bryant, NT, Texas A&M. We stay close to home for the second time to pick up a space eater in the middle of the defense. Ratliff will settle in opposite Canty at DE and the threesome should make for a dominating DL starting in 2009 for years to come.
4. Jason Jones, DE, Eastern Michigan. With Ellis' future cloudy, JJ looks to a rotational OLB to develop. Jones has had a decent post season and may be a good shout to make the switch to standing up.
5. Robert Felton, OG, Arkansas. As all the pundits predicted, JJ looks to his Alma Mater for that special skill player. Oh wait a minute.....well, Jamie Dukes would consider him a skill player, and he represents good value here at a spot where he could develop to replace Kosier.
6. David Roach, S, TCU. Staying on theme, JJ looks in-state to TCU for a project at safety. He put up some nice numbers at the combine, looks fairly fluid and has a nice frame. I'm not sure his stock won't be up considerably now, but based on production this is about the right slotting for him.
7. Jack Ikegwuono, CB, Wisconsin. A blown out knee and reconstructive surgery will mean that Jack spends the next 18 months on IR. He's a talent though and someone will take the chance on him, might as well be the Cowboys.
