Az-Zahir Hakim As Possible Replacement

Yesterday the Lions released the WR/special teams returner, I was thinking since Tyson Thompson went down why not try to sign the guy because he's a pretty good returner and can fill the role on both kickoffs and punts....

Any thoughts on the idea?

Mixed feelings about this. The guy is electric, but has a tendency to put the ball on the turf far too often. I'd say make it a priority to tell him to hang on to the ball, and sign him. He can make a difference.

I remember this guy at his peak with the Rams in 99, with the " greatest show on turf ".

The triple threat of Bruce, Holt, and him. Unstoppable

Not talked about at all now, though.

Hmm you take a chance with any guy returning punts/kickoffs of fumbling but he's been pretty good at it, although I do see your concern.

He was great back in the day with the Lions, but if I remember correctly he fumbled...alot

I think I will pass, not worth the risk.

I think it could be a good move but it depends on what they think of S.Green or if they think they have a back up for 3rd corner if they choose for A. Glenn

But seriously though, after witnessing first hand what a disaster it is to have fumbling kick returners this weekend, I doubt BP would be interested.

Could be a toss up but you never know, Green isn't the answer though, he lacks explosiveness necessary in the NFL returning kickoffs and punts....

I agree with you.
I also dont think much of Green and I think A. Glenn is too valuable as the 3rd corner to risk injury returning kicks....

MB3 did return kickoffs and punts in college so he could very well be a thought, good post.

I think so, I cant find anything about him signing anywhere, and the link says he is inactive. Other sites show him as a Cardinal but not playing. (he was never resigned by Cards this year)

Just kidding, though in all seriousness, I am worried with Crayton and Newman being the ones that we have used this year. Glenn may be an option, but not a full time option due to age. Green may be the only option at this point.

What does bother me though is that we have 2 back now, what do we do if JJ or MB3 goes down in a game?

Hakim is a punt returner he has only returned 12 kicks in his career for a poor average
