Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers are each coming off blowout wins at home in prime time last week and will meet at Lambeau Field Sunday in a key NFC matchup between potential playoff teams. The Eagles are coming off a 45-21 rout of the Carolina Panthers as seven-point favorites onMonday Night Football, while the Packers crushed the Chicago Bears55-14 as nine-point chalk on Sunday night.

Point spread: The Packers opened as 4.5-point favorites; the total was 54 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 34.2-33.2 Eagles

Why the Eagles can cover the spread

Philadelphia has been an outstanding road team under second-year head coach Chip Kelly, going 7-3 straight up and against the spread in its last 10 games away from home. The Eagles already own road wins against the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans this season, and they are 3-1 ATS in their past four as road dogs.

Green Bay will get its first look at Kelly's offense, which will be a lot different than what the team saw in a very familiar divisional foe last week. Philly had to like what it saw from quarterback Mark Sanchez, who threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns in his first start with the team, as well. The Pack will not have much tape of him to study in this offense.

Why the Packers can cover the spread

Green Bay did most of its damage in the first half of last week's demolition of the Bears, building a 42-0 halftime lead and then cruising after the intermission while giving several players some valuable game experience.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tied an NFL record with six touchdown passes in the first two quarters and finished with 315 yards, and he will test a Philadelphia secondary that faced a far less accurate passer last week in Carolina's Cam Newton.

The Pack has won three of the last four meetings with the Eagles bothSU and ATS, and they are also 3-0 versus the line in their past three games as a home favorite.

Smart Pick

This game will be a much bigger challenge for both teams defensively, and the Matthews brothers may just help decide who wins it from their linebacker spots.

Green Bay's Clay Matthews turned in an impressive performance in his first game at the inside linebacker position against Chicago, registering a game-high 11 tackles to go along with one sack.

Philadelphia's Casey Matthews started for the injured DeMeco Ryans against the Panthers and totaled seven tackles. However, he is not nearly as good as his older brother and will struggle trying to stop Packers running back Eddie Lacy up the middle.

If Clay handles the Philly running game like he did the Bears, the Eagles will be in big trouble, and Sanchez will be scrambling for his life. Green Bay wins by double digits.

To repeat other threads there is a 3+% improvement of our making the playoffs with a GB loss. GB has a 67% chance of making the playoffs and are essentially 1 1/2 games behind us. Philly has a 83% chance of making the playoffs at present although again these odds can change a lot with a win or loss. We have a 61% chance of making the playoffs. GB is our biggest threat right now otherwise we are looking good to make the playoffs.

I'm still going to root for GB although either makes me want to puke. Don't underestimate either esp Philly who has a very good rush defense. This should be the game of the week.

I hate the eagles . But , I think they're going to win . I'm not sold on Greenbay . They've beat a bunch of bad teams and have lost to the 3 good NFC a teams they've played . I think the Eagles will get the ball into McCoy and sproles hands quickly and they'll both have good games . GB is a poor tackling team.

We don't want Green Bay winning their division. We don't want to have to go to Lambeau in the playoffs. That said, we want to win our division more. Go Pack.....

Forecast for tomorrow at Lambeau is for possible snow showers early. Then, decreasing clouds later on in the day. High in the upper 20s.

Apparently, the oddsmakers in Lost Wages are not feeling the love for the Beagles. The point spread has changed from GB favored by 5.5 to GB favored by 6.

If any team is likely to put Mark Sanchez to the acid test, it'll be Green Bay at home on Sunday. It should be quite interesting to see if all the positive reports he's getting lately are well-founded or not. One good game surely isn't positive proof that a formerly unsuccessful QB has turned a new leaf. He'll be severely tested.

It feels like one of those games where you put faith in a player and then remember he's the butt fumbler. Pack win big.

Sanchez was playing poorly last week until Carolina gifted them a lot of points. I don't think he'll hold up against the pressure of having to match Rodgers throughout the game.
