Did anyone happen to catch Babe Laufenburg on Norm's radio show? Norm asked him about Romo and the the Tebow phenomenon and he got pretty fired up.

Here's a transcript from the show...

Romo's the most underrated player in the league yet everybody takes shots at him.

In the game against the Giants, he had the highest passer rating for a losing quarterback in NFL history but he doesn’t get credit for how well he played. … This is what I love about it -- the same day that Tim Tebow was hailed as a “winner,” he needs a 59-yard field goal at the end to give him 10 points.

But Romo is viewed as a "loser" because he puts his team up to 34 points, throws four touchdowns, no interceptions, but guess what? His field goal kicker gets his kicked blocked.

I don’t buy Tim Tebow is a winner because he put up 10 points and needed a 59-yarder to get into overtime, and then needed a Marion Barber fumble when the Bears were going in for a touchdown. I don’t say, “Wow, Tebow’s a winner and Romo’s a loser.” No way -- I am not buying that.

Amazing.....

Romo is a great QB....i Know this is a team sport, but the Defense lost that game vs the Giants. Romo deserves no blame.

Even the pass to Austin, you can't blame him or Austin...you shouldn't be in that position.

Completely agree with Babe. I got respect for what Tebow did, but is he on the same planet as Tony Romo as an NFL quarterback? Absolutely not. I said this before and I'll say it again I would take Romo over any QB not named Brady or Rodgers.

Hey, including you Babe. You were done with him after the Lions loss remember? I sent you an e-mail saying you were going to have to eat those words and you didn't believe you'd have to.

How'd they taste?

Yet back in Oct Babe goes off on how he lost faith in Romo. Stick it in your ear Babe you go off on Romo and now sing his praise? please nothing but fair weather reporter who could not hack it as a QB I'll take Tebow over your sorry ars any day of the week,

Yeah a little Johnny come lately there Babe. Babe needs to just ride his prediction about Romo being a bad QB and call it a day. We don't need any article of so called apology.

Babe is just like any other sport reporter. His opinion means absolutely NADA in the end.

Still pretty upset about him throwing Romo under the bus. Now this article?

Child please....

How about don't say ANYTHING unless its an apology Babe?? Is that asking to much from the so called Dallas media?

Probably so....per the norm

Now THAT is spot on!!!!!!

Wondering why Dan Marino is considered one of the greatest QBs to play the game yet he could never win the big one....

That really surprised me at the time. Babe has been in Romo's corner since people like myself were still pulling for Henson.;)

I'll give him a pass on jumping ship, since it only took a couple weeks to get back on.

Romo is a top 5 QB, and is doing more with less than Brees, Brady, Rodgers and Rothleswhatever have. He should be in the MVP race, particularly with his stellar stats this year. Brees and Rodgers are probably more deserving, but Romo has at least earned some discussion.

Again, he was protecting his BFF. Bad losses? Can't be coaching anymore, suddenly it must be the players.

It was funny, earlier on the Fan the hosts were wondering if Garrett ever turned off Robot Mode and let his hair down. Elfenbein said the one time he'd seen it was at a Springsteen concert when he and Babe were there together both dancing in their seats.

So Babe's in a little bit of a dilemma between his best friend and his own ego when the offense looks bad.

I'm surprised Babe doesn't understand how this league works, especially being a quarterback.

Quarterbacks get too much credit and too much blame. That's just the way it is.

And Tebow isn't getting praised just because of the Bears game. He's getting praised because he led fourth-quarter comebacks six times in the same season. That's why people were attaching the "winner" tag to him.
That and the fact that on every level, Tebow has won.

Meanwhile, Romo has been forever defined by the "bobbled snap" in Seattle. Yes, I think it's unfair. No, it has nothing to do with his quarterbacking skills. Yes, I'm tired of hearing about it every year.

But it is what it is. Romo's reputation is fixed until he wins a Super Bowl. And that's because he is the quarterback of the Cowboys, which have two other Super Bowl winning quarterbacks in their history. That's the standard attached to Romo.

It seems we just keep on having this arguments, trying to defend Romo and wondering with utter bemusement why one quarterback gets treated one way and another - our precious Romo - gets treated by a different set of standards.

Hasn't this been answered already? Like a billion times.

Romo is a very good quarterback. However, he's not going to be judged on the same level as other quarterbacks because ....

1. He wasn't a first-round draft choice; in fact, he was a free agent signee,
2. He started later than other star quarterbacks,
3. He plays quarterback in Dallas, where the standards are higher,
4. He had a disasterous fumble in Seattle that has "forever" branded him
5. He has made other bone-headed plays which allow people to pile on.

Whether we like it or not, that's how Romo is defined to many NFL players and fans. And he's not really going to be able to shed that reputation until he wins a Super Bowl.

The sooner we realize this, the quicker we can stop pulling our hair out about it.

Too bad you ditched Romo earlier in the year, eh Babe?

IIRC, he said he was done on the Romo bandwagon in terms of thinking Romo would lead the team to a Superbowl.
