been out of town (in Vegas, first time ever) since Friday and alot happened...some thoughts:

1) I was originally against the Peerless Price signing, but he's a Cowboy now and I'll be hoping for the best...I guess for what we got him for he is excellent insurance against injury to Key and Glenn

2) love the Fugita trade...he seems tailor made for the 3-4...getting him on board might pave the way for an eventual move of Burnett to one of the ILB spots (which Parcells talked about after we drafted him back in April)...but we have much better depth at LB today than we did...hated to see us lose Kalen Thornton to IR, but Fugita is probably a better all around player than KT anyway

3) I am really hoping the kicker and special teams arnt this teams downfall this week, and potentially for the season...one or two disasters here and you could go from 11-5 to 9-7 and out of the playoffs

4) FSU and Miami...how the mighty have fallen...what an awful football game Monday night between two mediocre teams...as a side note, what happened with Miami's special teams is my fear for Dallas this yr...looked like DeHaven had been giving the canes some pointers

5) Bob Stoops= O V E R R A T E D...losing on their home field to TCU? hilarious...I am still amazed anyone thinks this guy is the next great NFL coach

6) I really think if we keep Tomlinson from going off for 140-150+ or something Sunday we'll win...however when Mike Zimmer has been faced with the obvious (such as this week, stop one guy) it usually ends up the way we dont want it to

Welcome back dbair1967. Sounds as if you had a good time. I hope so anyway. I too am a bit worried about our Special Teams this year. Hopefully we can ratchet things up for the regular season.

Only thing I cared about when the Canes and Noles played was a Canes' loss.

Vacation? Since when do you merit that?

j/k

I gotta tell you David, I am really excited about acquiring Fujita. Especially for the cost. The best thing about 2005 so far is the character of the players added. Makes me look forward to the season even more.

I got to agree there with ya. As much as our QB situation still depresses me a bit, I do like the makeup the rest of the team.

I'm not depressed about QB, even though I had hoped our younger guys would be further along and I don't like retreads. I'm not brimming with confidence in Drew Bledsoe, but I'm not expecting him to set the world on fire. Just hand the ball to Julius Jones, get it to Witten, and keep the chains moving. I feel he can do that. He's past his prime, but not past his usefulness to the squad.

Best thing that could happen to this team is that the defense causes turmoil and it fires up everyone, especially the coaching staff. I'd like nothing more than to see a team that takes chances and goes for the juggular. That starts on defense far more than offense.

Yep, thats what I am excited to see, Defense. I know I probably will see some busted plays due to new 3-4 D, but I sure like the makeup of the young guys.

Other than QB, I really am concerned about Special Teams, like David Mentioned. I never understood what Bruce Dehaven brought to the table when BP hired him. He sucked in SF. He might have been good with Bills, but not impressed with him so far in his three seasons.

Very well said Hos...I feel the same. I will tell you what does depress me though...looking forward there are not many QB's that will be available via FA or draft that excite me. Leinart will be untouchable for us at the number one pick...Phillip Rivers is the only other QB out there worth chasing.

I have to trust that Bledsoe can handle the job for a few years until an opportunity happens where we can land a long term keeper.

I haven't lost an ounce of hope in Henson. Still think we're okay at QB for the near future.

I'm trying not too, but IMO he has not made the leap I thought he would have. I was hoping hands down he would take the #2 spot and run with it until he beat out Bledsoe...he appears to be no where close to that. I still have hope, but they have faded some.

Welcome back. I took my first trip out to Vegas in May, was a fabulous trip (though it must be hot now). I hope you put some $$$ on our Cowboys - I put $50 on them to win the Superbowl at 20-1 odds. :)

Hope you won some money - can't beat the blackjack tables in Vegas!

Sorry, I don't think Phillip Rivers has exactly proved worthy of his high draft pick status till now in San Diego. I haven't watched all the pre-season games in 2005 but from what I read, he caused lot of concerns with his early struggles.

Heck Ben has struggled a lot this pre-season. He even was struggling last pre-season, before he played well after his first game in NFL.

We fans like to give up easily on QB and try to always look at other teams toys as better than what we have. I have to say, Henson hasn't looked anything like the QB I saw in Michigan, this pre-season, but last year and what I saw in Michigan makes me still believe Henson will overcome whatever problems he has right now.

I did not watch Henson play in college...I did watch Rivers play many games because I was very high on him, so based off of what I saw I really like the kid. He too has a learning curve, but a few of the pre-season games I watched he started to really settle in and look solid. He started off very slow, but improved and looked confident. JMO...

I really hope Henson can make a huge jump...but I don't want to put all of my eggs in the Henson basket. I do think Rivers will become a very good NFL QB somewhere.........

My main point was I do not see any QB's available next year that get me excited other then Leinhart or maybe Rivers via trade....now if Henson steps up...GREAT! I want legit options...that's all.

I haven't seen all games Rivers played in College as I did with Henson, but I did watch a few. I thought he played lot better his Jr year than Sr year.

But as far as college is concerned, I like Henson potential far more than Rivers. Thats just my opinion. Sure you don't put all your eggs in one basket, but you just don't keep bringing in QBs every year either.

I think Romo might end up being fine. He might not be a Superstar that we want, but he might end up being someone like Jake Delhomme etc. If no one shows promise in 2006, then you think of bringing someone new. I am not talking about taking a shot low draft pick but like 1st round pick. YOu still try draft someone if you can in 2006, if you one of the young guys don't keep developing as BP hopes during this season.
