I'm sorry if this has been talked about in other threads, but what happened to the back shoulder throw to Dez? Romo would throw it 2-4 times a game. It was always really successful.

I think the OP means other than in the endzone...

I kind of thought the same thing when Dez was talking about the Lions CB playing man during his tirade saying "we're the best int he NFL."

For some reason, Tony just does not seem to trust his WRs, even Dez to make a play during crunch time.

@RastaRocket

I think he’s talking about when the Cowboys are driving down the field, not just the redzone.

We saw a lot of back shoulder throws to Bryant in the preseason, including that beauty when Patrick Peterson was draped all over him. It was pretty automatic.

They’re risky throws, but I think it’s the kind of play that would help him shake double coverage.

So naturally, we probably won’t run it.

Considering the results over the past 1.5 years when he's relied upon his receivers in crunch time, it's not surprising. I think Romo's confidence in his receivers has really plummeted since the loss of Laurent Robinson.

what's happened to the back shoulder throw, quick slants, delayed draw, toss sweeps etc etc.. seems as though we either ignore certain plays on certain weeks or just take them out of the play book all together. what is our bread and butter play? we have none. we have no identity. we let defense s dictate what we do on offense instead of imposing our offensive will on the defense. its a losers mentality that we have on offense. its pathetic and im just tired of it. thats why im so glad at least one player is tired of it and doesnt want to just sit back and let it happen all over again like ground hog day cause thats what we will be stuck in if keep this crap up. im glad dez is sick it and wont stand for it. im tired of our players having no passion and just smiling on the side lines and shaking opposing players hands after losses.

I completely agree. It's a mystery to me why these plays are non existent after being such a strong part of our attack. I hope Dez's frustrations and not being afraid to air them out wakes up whoever is in charge of putting the plan together on offense.

Yeah, whether it's his receivers, the line, the plays, or even himself, he's not trusting something. He seems hesitant, jittery, indecisive. Missing open receivers in favor of others that are better covered.

That's the problem with this team. The back shoulder throw was working, and for some reason they went away from it.

Nick Eatman talked about this as well. Not specifically about the back shoulder, but the fact that when we find something that always works, we go away from it for some reason. Almost like saving it for later, but never come back to it.

In my mind, you keep doing it until the defense proves they can stop it.

Yeah, love those back-shoulder throws when applicable.
If it's there, I think they should go for it all day.

Contrary to what some on this board and some radio dogs are saying Dez WAS double covered most of the game. Schwart finally came out and said so becasue he thought the notion was so silly that weren't double covering him.

I would like to see examples of when they could have successfully completed a back-shoulder throw (other than the TD pass); so when the coverage, pass route, and protection allowed for it. Just curious.

Why the offense never seems to find an identity. They don’t run any specific plays well because they don’t run them enough. Every time i see the back shoulder throw made, the announcer says that there is no defense for that play. If that is true, why don’t the Cowboy run it! Also, every time they run the slant and go, it works. Just a dumb offense. Dumb head coach. Sorry to offend the Garrett tea baggers.
