pretty safe to say we went into last year thinking we had a shot at it all. to say it turned out less than expected is in the running for understatement of the year in only our 4th day of it. but it was. horribly so. however we did get zeke out of it and oddly enough, dak.

but the pain we endured as backup qb after backup qb showed the futility of building underwater sand castles during monsoon season. we couldn't buy a vowel much less a win and we went from "just hold on" to "please, let this go" in a few short, long, miserable weeks in the middle somewhere. when the draft becomes your top topic at the midpoint of the season, all hope is lost for that year anyway.

dak came along and zeke learned how to stay out of weed stores and this season started off like last year bringing up bitter memories we thought we had tucked safely away.

oh no, not again.

heh, no. certainly not again.

this season also is something we never could have expected or predicted. 13-3 is certainly a dream season and knowing 1 of those losses was a "who cares" is just some added warmth you get from that blanket you never throw away for just such an occasion. but it was certainly strange not seeing romo out there, or in the wings waiting to come back in.

kinda hard to take at times early on to be honest. this ... success confused me. rookie qb's don't do this so any day now he'll come crashing down to earth and we'll all spend countless hours in here debating something silly like how did we ever think a 4th round pick...

ah hell. at 13-3 we still do that. people are still putting romo back in there. me? i just watch the cowboys play and my own thoughts on the matter have just as much chance at changing the plot of a movie midway through it as whether or not romo will play. fun to talk about but ya know, it is a spectator sport. not like anything we say or feel has an outcome on the game, only us.

but we still get wound up pretty tight at times cause we care.

so now we have a 1st week bye, established at least 2 of 3 triplets during the same year and have witnessed things no rookie duo has ever done before. no rookie qb has ever won the superbowl, right?

wouldn't that be another amazing "been there, done that" moment for the cowboys?

certainly nothing any of us could have expected.

been a great year with a shades wearing bright future ahead.
