Let’s face it the Cowboys up front on offense were marginal at best in 2021. In 2016 a year when Dallas had a top 5 offense a top 2 running game a productive rookie at QB the Oline boasted three count them three first round picks by my calculations. Smith Martin & Frederick .

Collins would have been a first rounder had a serious legal investigation with his name involved not been in the news and Dallas ( yes Jerry ) were lucky to sign him. Even Doug Free was a fourth rounder not exactly scraps ….with a 140 million invested in # 4 and serious cap issues this draft coming up is crucial in getting quality high picks to come in and PLAY up front and not redshirt freshmen …( Josh Ball & Farniok ) situations . Maybe both those players help in 2022

If we are lucky we will get two players to contribute through the 2022 draft, and thats it overall.

Instead of trying to build on 12-5, its...."sorry, the cap is a real thing."

Please continue to buy tickets and merchandise though.

Anyone in the local media ever ask questions like that? Nope, not allowed.

You mean 2 picks at any position to contribute in the draft if I’m reading you correctly . One of them needs to play on the offensive line .

Yet, they had the #1 scoring offense in the league last year.

If we've got a problem on the oline, the most obvious person to look at is Philbin. Martin is HOF, and Smith is borderline. Everyone was healthy come the end of the season. If Philbin can't produce with that lineup, we need to find someone who can.

:hammer:.........Just rewatched the playoff loss this morning. We couldn't even pick up a simple tackle end twist.

SF did that all day.

You couldn't pay me to sign Conner Williams......he sucks that bad. We need to draft O-line.....and hopefully one is around in the 1st.

Got a bad feeling your gonna see a run on guards in the first....:banghead:

Yet, they had the #1 scoring offense in the league last year.

When you say “ highest scoring “ offense they hung 150 points in three games against Atlanta Washington and the JV squad of the Eagles .

in a home playoff game they scored 17 against the Chiefs on the road 9 . So much for “ highest scoring offense “ it was a mirage .

We definitely need to address the offensive line production but back to basics encompasses the entire franchise. We can be better by adding talent but we won't be our best until we add some accountability through discipline. We need to get back to basics in it's truest form.

Yep, some people get caught up in the stats.....my eyes told me at the end of the season and against the good teams, they sucked.. who gives a crap about what the stats say. They really pounded the bad teams though.

Down 30 - 0 to Denver who’s coach got fired totally outplayed against Arizona until late scores made it look better the bulk of the Cowboys success were against non competitive D’s . Tampa Néw England & the Raiders were three playoff teams the Cowboys offense produced.

Football is won in the trenches the O & D lines have to control things. Football basics .

If you were to replace the Cowboys with any other NFC division champion, then they would have had the #1 offense.

In 2021 the only NFC East team with a QB was the Cowboys. When a team is scoring 50+ points twice in three weeks during the last part of the season, then they are padding their stats with quitters.

I was going to mention that. Just the 2 games alone, one against Philly, and one against Washington, probably put us over the top. Almost 100 points right there. Philly wasn't playing anyone. And Washington had everyone out due to sickness.

I like wins against anyone don’t get me wrong and it’s to the Cowboys advantage they play in a lousy division . It gets you a nice home playoff game or hopefully several but how do you fare against better competition is the measuring stick .

I remember the Chargers game the Cowboys raced out to an early 14-3 lead 1st quarter and proceeded to score 6 points the rest of the game . It took a 56 yard FG at the end of the game to win 20-17 . Dak and his paycheck are going nowhere the WR’s & RB’s are good enough to score points . It’s the offensive line that needs an upgrade this season .

Yep and we are a team that's built on getting a lead and killing the game with a running game based on a dominant O-Line. When we trail...Denver as an example, we dont have the dynamic passing game.

Sort the foundation out first and build around it......a bit old fashioned, but hey we do have Jerry at the helm

Getting “back to basics” is always good football policy. But in my book, here are the football basics that Cowboys have lacked for far too long:
  • The absolute fundamentals of football- Effective Blocking and Tackling. Teams that are outstanding in those two areas are the ones that consistently win playoff games.
  • Toughness- mental and physical toughness. Being able to overcome adversity like injuries and setbacks during games requires total toughness. The Cowboys have been Charmin-soft for years.
  • Strategic schemes on both sides of the ball- being good at offensive and defensive schemes, taking advantage of the talent you have. Our defensive scheme was much better last year. The offense is still too much like the Garrett-Linehan days- predictable at best.
Football remains a game of fundamentals. Get those right, you can compete. For far too long, this front office has been more enamored with jersey sales, “sizzle” instead of steak, stadium aesthetics, etc, etc, Being a competing football team always starts with fundamentals.

Hammer meet nail.
