Zeke never cut back one of those zone runs just ran into the teeth of it. He had a bad night IMO, he's lacking vision right now and possibly stamina. It was obvious they were using last years game plan, it almost worked again if Witten/Zeke don't fumble

You're right, but I was also wondering where were the screens? The outside runs? Where was Tony Pollard? It just seems like Dallas never got too far into their playbook last night. The most imaginative play last night was a three yard end around to Tavon Austin.

I'm definitely looking forward to better times when Michael Gallup returns to the offensive lineup. Most of us had a good idea that it would impede our success but is suspect that, evidently, it was more of a factor than we originally realized.

Devin Smith was the face on the milk carton last night. The Saints bracketed Cooper because nobody else was getting open.

I had a feeling it was too good to be true.

It had nothing to do with having 2.5 seconds to throw instead of 5 seconds to throw? Every QB can run a play action and still throw to their third option with a DL a half step away from them after two seconds?

Not true. We turned away from what was making this offense work.
Someone asked Garrett at the PC today why they didn't play action like they have been and he gave some incredibly lame answer that the way the game went, they weren't able to get to some things they wanted to get to.

What? You weren't able to "get to" play action plays because... why? Because the Saints were three points ahead?

Of course our current pathetic press corps refuses to follow up on absurd "answers" like that. It's almost hard to believe that there used to be reporters who wouldn't accept garbage like that and would press for real answers.

Agree totally. The press is lame for taking Jason’s lame answers.

He put his mark on that game plan and it failed, he will never own up to it. His owner even said he got out coached.

The gameplan this week sucked.

It looks like they approached this game with a conservative philosophy rather than swing for the fences.

Extremely disappointed in that decision, whomever made it, as it reminded me of the last few years and being bored as hell watching this team play

Totally lacked creativity I agree and believe it's because they wanted a similar grind it out game like last year. Probably a JG decision

Hard to give the Oline time to block when the Saint's D laid their ears back and came on strong. Nothing to keep them in check. Lame game plan and smacked of the old play not to lose philosophy. Doubt that Moore endorsed this approach.

And you don't think that had anything to do with pressure bearing down on Prescott constantly through the game? If you watch the game you'll see Dak didn't have time to eat a chicken sandwich while waiting for receivers to come open unlike the previous few games. One thing leads to another.

the saints game plan was to pressure dak and not give him time to throw. they attacked the line and they had a bunch of run blitzes that worked. our OL struggled all night. to your point, we could have adjusted and kept extra man in to help block, but that would mean less recievers in routes.....what the issue was we couldnt' handle their pressure up front....do that and the game is different.

and in a low scoring game, every mistake becomes that much bigger. Dak missed Cobb in the end zone and instead of 7, we got 3 points...Witten fumbled, where it could have led to another 3 points, Zeke fumbled (agree or not), he should have protected the ball better on a 4th and 1 to leave no doubt....convert the 4th down and it could have been different, Cobb missed a catch (I think that was bad throw by Dak) and we miss another opportunity.....

any one of those things could have changed the outcome of the game.....and we all sit here and throw accolades at the team on how they showed guts and pulled out a close one
It had nothing to do with NO. It was a stale old game plan. KM would not run that. Look at his time in Boise and look at the first 3 games this season do you see any similarities to what we ran in NO? Now go back as little as last year or beyond and do you see any similarities in what we ran in NO? NO may have done some or all of what you state but the game plan was not the same as in the first 3 weeks on our part.

And that's why you use jet action / motion to get receivers open for quick strikes. Which would have spread out the defense and allowed for more holed in the running game.

Also on the drive when we utilized 30% of our play-action calls 2/7), we scored a TD.

JJones actually said that? Whoa. That's telling to me.

The saints showed a favorable run defense and dared the boys to run it. We did and they still beat us like a drum. We tried to take what the defense was giving and we failed at all levels on offense. We should have gone back to some simple pre motion snaps and play action by the 2nd half. They also failed to use pollard who has shown a much better burst to the edge and has broken more tackles than zeke this year.

Something strange happened. Garrett went from being an aggressive OC in 2007, to a timid head coach.

Hard to have a successful game plan when the defensive line controlled the point of attack.

Folks, the sky didn't just fall to the ground after 1 game. Moore is, after all, a young OC who is learning, and bound to have some bumps along the way. Hell, ALL OC's have bumps, whether young our experienced.

The Saints, who have what is considered to be a great offensive coach, have averaged 11 points per game the last 2 times they have played the Cowboys. If Sean Payton has some tough offensive moments, how in the world can we think a 1st time OC won't?

If a pattern develops, there will be plenty of time to complain as if the season is over, but for now it is one tough game out of 3.
