Because there will be other teams that will be willing to make him a starter and pay him accordingly. Regardless of what fans think of Dak, there won't be another QB coming in as a possible starter and Foles probably wouldn't sign here because of Jerry and his past comments alone.

Actually, that's what he was intended to be initially. Maybe not even that. He was drafted to be a development QB and was 3rd on the charts. It was never the plan for him to start his rookie year, but fateful circumstances changed that and he exceeded expectations. One can argue Romo should've returned as starter and Dak to backup, but his and the team's play kept that from happening.

We have been starting our backup for nearly 3 years now.

What we need to find is a starter.

Same reason we didn't sign Cousins last year. Can you say blow the cap on space. Nickie will want to be a starter not a back up. I can see him getting his back up over that. Let's see what White does next year in camp. We're stuck in 2018

Imo the problem is you wont get foles for backup money. And whats more is does he even want to play the bsckuprole again.

Whsat i do agree is we need better backups.
