Interesting segment today they were discussing Cowboys signing one of the following 3 as an insurance policy in case Dak got hurt so the season would not be a bust if that did happen:

Cam Newton

Andy Dalton

Joe Flacco

Points were made there were no bidding wars for any of them and they could be had possibly for a low price. If you had to choose one of these 3 who would you want ?

For me it would have to be between Cam and Dalton not a big fan of Flacco TBH

I would lean more towards Cam just Accuracy concerns me but i think he fits the best !

Dalton, it's not even close

I'm with you.

I think he has the best mentality to accept the role without trying to undermine or take the starter's job. That's what I would worry about with Newton and I don't think Flacco even cares at this point. His attitude has sucked for years.

I'd love to get Dalton but the price would have to be right, and by right I mean really low!

Yeah i am not of fan of flacco just something about him

To me its between Dalton and Cam But cams mobility and athleticism would be a great fit here - Cams accuracy concerns me a little but his ability to run like dak would be a great fit

I do like the similarities in that area, I just worry that Newton wouldn't yet fully embrace the idea of being Dak's backup.

And Dalton would be coming home. Played at TCU, born in Katy, TX

Always found it strange that the Cowboys haven't had a viable backup QB since Dak has been the starting QB.
The problem with that assessment is that we really don't know HOW "viable" our backups have been. preseason snaps with scrubs isn't a great meter. The chance we could have had some meaningful snaps were ignored.

Edit: Dak wasn;t supposed to be this..."good". But he got put in with A team. In fact A+ team. See what I mean?

Cam isn’t a backup guy. Dalton is the pick of the three, but Jerry’s not going to pay big money for an insurance policy. Especially when his HC is a QB specialist.

why would anyone turn down a couple million to possible sit and play backup especially if coming off injuries like cam is --- the whole point made was any of them should be cheap !

Selfish d-bag, reminds me of Aaron Rodgers.
Really? Not doubting you at all but what was an example? I always thought of him as a no-drama, no-frills QB that didn’t do much talking.

And hell to the no on Cam. No on Flacco, too. Dalton is the choice.

BTW, I’m guessing Fitzmagic is still under contract? That dude is the quintessential QB2 that can pull off wins in short spurts.

You can’t bring in Cam.. If he ever got on the field and brought his A game then Dak wouldn’t see the field again.

I also don’t think Dallas wants Dak looking over his shoulder and seeing Cam.

Dalton would be a good fit.

Dalton.

Backup QB is a big need, and an important position management has not valued highly enough.
