Backup QB.

Yet for some reason or another, he never prevailed as a starter. He had his time in Carolina, and iirc HE beat our Cowboys on that playoff game!

No way do I want us to keep Bledsoe. Would any of you really want him to come in if Romo went down. I think I hear a loud NO NO NO. We need a backup similar to Romo. That is one who is mobile so we don't have to change our entire offensive scheme to fit him. Wish we could find another younger version of Testeverde. Frankly, I'd like to see the Cowboys hire Testeverde as a mentor to our next developing QB with Sean Peyton gone. But doubt Testeverde wants move from NJ and Jerry Jones wouldn't pay him enough money to do so.

Does Phil Simms call his sons games? He would have to if Simms came to Dallas, Simms would probably be the Dallas holder. Awkward.

Since Drew is more than likely gone, and most of us want him to be gone. I'd like to hear some of your ideas for a backup QB.

Now that we've found our starter, Dustin Long strikes me as sort of a developmental type.

Anyone know what he's doing?

Exactly - my first instinct is to say Bledsoe. But you have to think about the ramifications of putting in Lady Liberty against today's blitz happy defenses. :(

I think it's time to move on and go with a more mobile quarterback.

I feel bad for Bledsoe, but I Also agree that his lack of mobility does not work for todays needs!

If we want a b/u similar to Romo, I like Anthony Wright. I think he could fill in for a game or two.

How about Kyle Boller? Has Baltimore given up on that kid yet? He'll never amount to much as a starter, but he may be a goodd fit for a b/u role.

my hope is we can fix the oline in the offseason so we don't have to have our qb avoid sacks, the oline just stops the defense.as for backups i think simms will get a starter spot. kitna will stay in detroit as they have no one else.plummer could be a nice option if he is not given a staer job.

I'm surprised no one's brought up Shaub yet.

He'd be great, but I'd like to see him get a shot too.

Plummer and Simms will get a chance to start elsewhere, so forget them. We need a Kitna or Volek kinda guy. Even that guy at KC would suffice.

Josh McCown is a Romo clone

I don't think Detroit will let him go. He will be their starter next season. If not, I do like him and think he could be a good back up in Dallas.

I think we should draft a QB (not round 1 unless too good to pass up, which doesn't seem likely) and sign a vet to be primary backup while the rookie is groomed. The rookie I'd like is John Beck from BYU. Perfect fit behind Romo. For a vet backup, someone like Trent Dilfer would be ideal, but I don't know who will be on the market yet.
