The fish rots from the head down, and I will direct the majority of the blame for the state of the franchise to JJ and family.

That said— from a football perspective— there are some things that are fixable, and there are some common denominators of areas we desperately need to address:

We simply suck at the basic fundamentals of the game. Sure— we don’t have premium talent at RB, but the problems run across the board. The Running game sucks because not only does our OL struggle at blocking, our TEs and WRs don’t block well either.

Passing game: Our WRs don’t run precise routes. Our QBs footwork is poor. Our play-calling, play design, and overall scheme is archaic, predictable, and outdated. If they can’t execute a simple scheme like this well— what chance do they have of excelling in something more advanced?

On D, we have guys freelancing, tackling is poor, bad angles, guys unwilling to hit, bad play recognition, and let’s not even bring up the penalty issue that is still horrid in year 5 of MM’s tenure.

What have they been doing (or not doing) at training camp and practice? If you play like you practice, then our biggest issues are likely in the preparation (or lack thereof) department. This whole roster is coasting and the culture the HC is tolerating is not producing professionally competent players.

This team needs a hard *** HC and staff in the worst way. Someone who will teach the basic fundamentals of this game and hold these players accountable to the details and developing the drive and motivation necessary to succeed at this level of competition.

I just want to watch a team play with heart, competence, and competitive fire again.

Sorry for the rant lol

McCarthy needed fired after GB. I've been saying that since then.

The 2024 Cowboys have regressed since then.

Until Jerry and Stephen get a good HC in here, nothing will change.
But would they change and get a good young innovative coach in here.
Or hire another coach which the game passed them by. One Jerry can still have some say so and control over personnel and the coaching staff.

Agreed. Said the same thing following the GB debacle. MM needed to go.

Now 2024 is a wasted season on a lame duck coach. And for what? For JJ to save his 5 mil salary bc he had a contract?

The “run it back bc we are hanging around the rim” narrative epitomizes all that is wrong with this FO

Yeah, but have you seen their outfits when they arrive at the stadium? Clearly they spend 3-4 hours per week perfecting their fresh ensemble. They nail it!

I definitely agree that fundamentals are sorely lacking. And they have been for some time.

That’s one area where I would welcome a Bill Belichick hire. If nothing else, he would help to restore that part of the foundation.

Those kind of coaches make Jerry uncomfortable, which is why we don't get them. It hurts his wittle pwaters feewings.

Replace the HC and the outcome would be the same. Maybe a playoff team but they will get run over in the playoffs. Any time these losers get punched they fold.

We need a true disciplinarian coach. A tough SOB that will put their feet to the fire and DEMAND that the fundamentals be taught and required.
Bluntly speaking a HC should be the leader of the team; a CEO to be honest. With three division chiefs, Offense Defense Special teams. THEY are the ones to do schemes, decide who plays, etc.
Bottom line the HC is the whip cracker. The head buster. The butt kicker.

You will not see one like that as long as Big Enos and Little Enos are running this team.

A good, young, innovative coach would be EXACTLY the kind of coach that Jerry would control. As much as we all want a younger, modern offense, Jerry would walk all over a first time HC and the poor sucker would fail. If nothing else, Jerry needs a Belichick type to tell him to back off.

Not intending to defend MM, but I suppose if I were in his shoes and knew that my time with Dallas ends in 10 weeks, I wouldn't be putting much effort into the day-to-day operations. I would have the attitude 'why bother stressing myself out for nothing'.

Good post Hawk.

For the life of me, I can’t think of a single professional sports organization who is completely comfortable just tossing whole seasons aside so the owner and his giggling son can play fantasy football and pretend they know what they’re doing.

As per usual, Hawk19 with an extremely accurate description of these current Dallas Cowboys.
Not one single item can be disputed.

Great job again Hawk.

Blocking and tackling…. If you can do that to perfection the rest of the game is easier, simpler and better..

Practice, practice and more practice.

I think part of the problem is focusing on players with "athleticism". That's great if a guy is a great broad jumper or can jump real high without pads. How does that help him play football? We need to shift the focus to guys who have football intelligence and a passion for the game. If they can run a 4.3 40 then that's just icing on the cake.

What’s his excuse the last 4 seasons, beating up bottom feeder teams is his calling card that works for him so he gets massage time and extra buffet line time.

I tried to add a bit to my post but the time expired on me. I was going to say that MM still sucks butt and deserved to get fired after the GB disaster.

What my comment was about was how I would approach being in MM's shoes this season knowing that I was a lame duck. He doesn't seem to care what is going on around him, and when he does have something to say it sounds like he's parroting what Jerry wants him to say. It's a crap position to be in. Anyone who thinks Bellycheat would agree to walk in to a situation like this is nuts.

reason #1 why i want a tough minded discipline type as hc...belichick or vrable.
make'm dread comin' to work after sloppy effort.
i don't think this team dreads practice after a loss.
